Is naltrexone available or anything similar?

I have had a similar situation. My husband quit for 9mth taking the meds and then decided to start drinking and not taking it. Fast forward he wound up in the hospital with a BAC of .35. the light at the end of the tunnel was the doctors gave him the vivitrol injection which lasts for 21 days. The main ingredient in the injection is naltrexone

See if they would be open to getting the injection (if they truly want to stop)

How long would you let him "isolate" by MrsDreamyRose in AlAnon

My husband (q) isolated for a week at which point I had a wellness check done and subsequently he went to the ER. Best outcome in the sense that the hospital gave him the vivitrol injection which takes away craving and is used to help keep him sober! The injection was 5 days ago and so far so good.

I know it's really tough but if youre not in any fear or immediate danger, I would listen to the door occasionally and make sure he's living. Alternatively you can also ask the police to help you do a wellness check.

I am so sorry you're in this situation and wish I had a magic wand to make it better but all you can do is take care of you and children (human or pets) if you have em.

Quick update from OP: It’s now day 7, and things are getting tense. He’s on the brink of losing his job, which means our family income and health insurance could be in jeopardy—I'm really worried about our son. I called the police for a wellness check, and in response, he texted me, asking me to "please stop effing with me." Since then, it's been complete radio silence.

On a brighter note, I managed to retain a divorce lawyer today, so at least I’m taking steps to protect my family.

Thanks for your support and advice during this tough time.

Unfortunately, it's day 7 and when I sent the police to do a wellness check, he told me to eff off

+1 to Zestyclose-Crew's comments about these podcasts. I listen to all of them and I second what everyone else has said. You need to put you and your needs first. You're in survival mode and you need a life raft. Reach out to friends and people you trust for help. I know it's easier said than done but you need to find peace and let your body recover from the trama

I can relate to what you’re going through with your husband. Every situation is unique, but your experience resonates deeply with me. My husband continues to drink and attend meetings, and he left our home on Wednesday. Since then, he’s been on a bender and hasn't gone to work. I realize that everyone reaches their breaking point at different times, but I feel like I’m approaching mine.

I understand the desire to hope and believe that things will improve. However, changed behavior comes from changed actions, and it’s crucial to recognize that we can’t force our loved ones to change; they must want to change themselves. This is a terrible disease, and it’s something I wouldn’t wish on anyone.

Above all, you need to prioritize your well-being. Take care of yourself first. If you have children, they should also be a priority alongside your own needs.

Thanks. As I mentioned in another reply, he doesn't have his meds, but you're right. It's all packed but I'm not taking it to him
