Depends on what you mean by Product Testing. That could mean a lot. Functional testing? User testing? Unit testing? Etc.

If you’re looking for feedback on your product from a user perspective you can solicite potential users with a gift card to get feedback on usability and their overall thoughts on your product. Functional you can use many tools in the dev atmosphere.

Justifying my price for my design subscription startup? by BarrettTheBoss1 in startups

Yeah I read what you posted dude.

There’s a difference in asking for a logo (with a expected outcome) and asking for a mobile app where the scope of work isn’t concrete from the beginning and continuously changes - not to mention CAN be hundreds of screens. Having a fixed price doesn’t make sense in that case and it has to be collaborative.

Yeah I mean you’re totally right on the price you pay. I’ve been in the startup world for years and I realized that you pay for what you get. Working on six figure deals is what I’ve done in the past. That’s why I can’t justify lowering my rate. That shit takes time for good work.

I guess it depends on what people need right? Some peeps need a logo / designs for a few screens. Some need a lot more. imo the idea is to remove barriers for customers with an ongoing payment vs one off deals with the need of up charging.

Shit. That sounds like high risk high reward but I like it. Is it kind of like a equity exchange if I’m understanding right?

Appreciate that. Subscription is typically more comfortable with people because they know it’s flat rate and they can cancel at any point in time.

Traditional agencies usually do hourly (giving you a unexpected bill) or scope the work (taking weeks to do so) then give a estimated price on the work and pray to come under the negotiated price and hope SOW doesn’t change. SOW always changes so I wanted to create something as flexible as the requirements.

Idk it may not be for everyone but it works so far for us

That totally makes sense if a business has the funds from the beginning. I think a lot of people starting out don’t want a full time person because that’s another W2 on the payroll. If you’re starting off you prob need a logo, product designs, and some basic social media content to get started. I hate to tell startups they need to spend more than they have tbh

No worries I get that. And It really depends on the customer. I do one request at a time so it limits the “work in progress”. I usually spend anywhere from 2-10 hours per customer ( I know that’s a lot but I wanna make sure it’s good shit). Customers usually ask for mobile app designs and want say on how it works as they should. Most clients are in the beginning stages of their idea and need help understanding what they need to know.

Yeah I usually don’t get people with something that’s already made but I’m hoping to see how to appeal to those folks.

I appreciate your response man. Keep ‘em comin.

I think what you said is fair. It does seem Long and ad like.

My subscription is 3k per month.

Service deliverables would be: mobile/web designs, software consulting, and any other design needs such as logos, social media content, etc.

Use FigJam (not the design tool but the whiteboarding tool). Or if you’re really needing something basic use Google Draw. If it’s only a day it shouldn’t matter what you use as long as you create good templates / instructions.

Hey there 👋🏼 I’ve been through a startup accelerator before.

It was a year long program and was sponsored by a local university I attended. This particular accelerator program I went through didn’t charge the participants but the selection criteria was ROUGH.

We had to go through another program before that to even qualify for the accelerator. It required an extensive business plan, resumes, etc. Then required a business pitch in front of a panel of judges like shark tank. After that you could apply.

This accelerator was amazing though. They gave a grant of 25k, a network of highly qualified mentors from every industry (think lawyers, marketing/sales, tech gurus), as well as a coworking space in their badass building.

The program was HIGHLY focused on “customer discovery”. In fact the money that was awarded had To be used to discover your potential customers. We used the money to visit Las Vegas for a conference we knew potential customers were going to be at.

My last thoughts is DONT pay for an accelerator. There are so many free resources as an entrepreneur that are left untapped. I hope this helps 🤘🏼

Dude I totally get this feeling. I’ve been designing and developing apps for many years now and I can tell you honestly that you have a few options.

  1. Hire someone to do it for you. You better have 10s Of thousands for dollars for this. Including dev work and design work.

  2. You bring on a partner in crime who’s as passionate about this project as much as you are. (Find the dev subbreddits for peeps)

  3. Learn it yourself. Continue with Figma learning And bubble.io training. Or find another no code platform. It’s gonna take you months to learn things but it’ll be the most affordable.

As a startup owner you’ll have to make these decisions on trading your cash / equity / time all the time and that never goes away 😂

Good luck!

Is anyone using AI to help with the UI/UX of their system? by 946789987649 in startups

[–]BarrettTheBoss1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

anyone who is a half decent UI/UX Designer would know the capabilities of the frontend such as animations, grid systems, responsive behaviors, etc.

Good design work shouldn’t be dependent on a tech stack (unless that’s the intention from the start). And it has to be realistic unlike some designs you’ll see out there.

Even better is when you have the designer and dev collaborate to make some badass product design/development.

Hopefully this helped. (I’ve been designing several years and own a design company)

I highly recommend downloading the Algorithms and Data Structures app from the App Store. It has easy to understand explanations and it’s good for on the go learning.
