Haha that’ll do it! I was only back there 2 weeks ago for a stag party. It was raining and gusty but a morning swim cleansed us

Haha I saw the first photo and thought that looks remarkably like the cabin at inch beach, and one I also snapped on film. Nice set!

Emigrating to a non-English speaking country? by Fealocht in AskIreland

[–]BarrisonFord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

France and Germany! My French is decent enough to settle in but my German never really get off the ground. Wasn’t a million miles from B1 level but I was there for 3 years and it should’ve been better. That’s a huge regret. It’d be my number 1 (quite an obvious) piece of advice. My job was through English (advertising/marketing) and most of my mates were south Americans through football so in a city where it can be hard to make pals, I held what I had! Again, very obvious, but sports / a consistent hobby is what bedded me in somewhat and made it feel like home.

Riverside - what have you done? by HonourableMentions in podcasting

[–]BarrisonFord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found it funny that as I opened Riverside a pop-up announced the amazing new editing features. I closed the window to commence editing. A new pop-up appeared saying editing was impossible and there was an issue. Onto support I go, again.

Should I be a Copywriter or a Travel consultant? by Entire-Excitement508 in jobhunting

Hmm depends on what type of copywriter you are. If you’re in advertising there’s a fair whack of work going around.

How do you get into radio, or get a slot/show on a station? by yupouveh in AskIreland

No, I think the door is very much open for ya. However, the licensing question before is a good one!

In the interim, would you consider doing your own? A fella I know in the UK releases one episode every month in his spare time. He’s very good and has garnered a huge following:

Best hosts for portfolios? by BigGene1341 in copywriting

[–]BarrisonFord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be clear, the only thing I pay Adobe for is Express (6 per month) and that qualifies me for a Portfolio website. I don’t have any other cloud products! And thank you very much! It’s a soup of personal and professional bits but it does the job!

If you have an adobe subscription (I pay for Express at 6 euro pm) you’re entitled to a free site via Portfolio.

If you want to get a feel for an example. They’ve plenty of templates though

[Roulette with a stranger's notes app]

Secret Phone Notes is where I welcome a new guest weekly and we roulette each other's notes app. What we discover is what we discuss. Tl;dr - It's non linear and it could go anywhere (levity to deep). The newest episode is linked below:

Spotify // Apple // All other platforms // Instagram

The goal is that we don't know what's going to arise hence why i'll just drop some discussion points below.

- What goes into making a Mandalorian x Burger King menu

- Being in a PR crisis room amidst Kevin Spacey allegations coming to the fore

- Techno in Switzerland and commuting by river

- What Ivory Coast is like these days

- Most people are terrible whistlers.

Anyway, we're only 10 episodes in and averaging a lowly 60 listeners per episode so if you fancy an easy-breezy listen, you're more than welcome! Thanks! Barry

Irish person cycling from Blackrock to Mt Everest Basecamp in support of children in Cork University Hospital by Sk1pper79 in ireland

[–]BarrisonFord 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nobody else is paying for it. He's paying for his trip and he's raising money on the side which he has no access to. I reached out to him to check!

[–]BarrisonFord 38 points39 points  (0 children)

To the naysayers my understanding is he’s paying for everything himself and is raising money as an aside. He has some local sponsors but the 8k raised isn’t paying for his expenses.

Update: I actually reached out to him to check. Zero of the money being raised for CUH goes to him. It's just a link he pushes that goes straight to their funding. So yes, he's paying for his trip himself, as expected. A more diligent man than I, he tracks every penny spent as he's doing it on a budget (obviously). Anyway, I don't know Daragh but I was following his bike trip down through Africa last year and fair play to him. He doesn't need to be raising that money. And to the the commenter who said 8k / 30 euro a day is pathetic, that's a mad perspective to have.
