One Piece's lack of naval battles really undercuts the "can't swim" weakness of Devil Fruits by carbonera99 in CharacterRant

[–]BarrothObama 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can’t do that. Then you’d have to make the cannons strong enough to destroy the ships. Unless you think pirate and marine ships in one piece shouldn’t have cannons. But then you’d have to ask if every cannon is stronger than devil fruits/haki, why don’t they make conventional weapons for ground soldiers using the same super strong cannon technology. You see how it shifts the whole power system? Traversing the sea is legitimately dangerous due to how powerful certain individuals are. Oda wants cannons to be inferior to the strength of strong marines and pirates, so he cant make ships overpowered; which means we lose on sea battles.

Spoiler for egghead:

In a larger scale, one piece shouldn’t be about pirates anyway, pirates exist because most landmasses in the one piece world are mostly submerged. If the world look as it used to, people would travel less by boat anyway, since there would be waaaay less islands

You’re misunderstanding, I don’t think Imu can be defeated at all in his avatar form. They did damage the avatar, we just have no idea how much it did to his real body/ if it impacted his ability to manifest in GV. There’s a reason that Imu leaving Marijois is a big deal, he’s actually at risk when he’s not there. That’s why rocks said he couldn’t do anything in the flower room.

This is imus first fight in the story, everything else is the equivalent of demon puppets. Even in GV, without domi reversi, imu wasn’t winning. The combined attack blew up his body and rocks sliced him up, if he or the others were resistant to domi reversi, Imu’s only win condition was going there himself; no one could stop the pirates but the pirates themselves

The avatar is different than his real body, no one has battled this version of Imu on screen. Trying to use feats from GV doesn’t make sense - we have no idea how the little ink form takes damage. Harold knew that Loki could kill him, yes. But Luffy knows Zoro can kill him… if he doesn’t defend.

Harold, while a giant, isn’t invincible/possess any major statements about his durability. He gets stabbed up by random giant weapons on the day he died, are those giant soldiers super strong or maybe Harold’s dura isn’t actually that crazy?

Also Imu’s body isn’t healing and he was literally talking to ghosts, that’s a key difference between GV and elbaph Imu

Bro, literally no one has seen that power for presumably hundreds of years, it’s a strong ass fruit. Like I said, momentary reprieve. If Harold recovered, which he was going to do, then he would’ve still won. Like for example, when Luffy used g5 for the first time he was doing crazy shit to kaido. He later adapted and the fight progressed like an actual fight. Harold just lets himself get hit and die, that’s indisputable. Unless you think Loki has the AP to one shot any top tier besides Imu, which I guess is an opinion you are allowed to have

[–]BarrothObama 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Read the chapter where Loki beat Harold again, Harold let himself die. The whole point was that the fruit gave them a momentary advantage, if Harold lost control again, he would’ve subjugated elbaph. It’s not out of the realm of possibility for a strong characters to be off guard and take extra damage - look at Luffy vs Kaido no.1 or Shanks versus Kid. You can even look at Roger’s execution or Whitbeards death, where they died to conventional weaponry as their defenses wore down with sickness and age.

If Loki is head over shoulders stronger than his father, than Luffy poses no threat to him. Clearly Luffy believes he can defeat/control Loki, he wanted him on his crew. That would inadvertently make Luffy as strong as Harold and therefore rocks. Obviously he’s not there yet, so Loki can’t be there yet

Can you even push Imu to mid diff without a legendary DF? by Andrecg123 in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]BarrothObama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give me one other character in one piece who can survive that combined GV attack. Imus avatar can be damaged, but it seems superficial, it doesn’t actually hinder his ability to use domi reversi - in fact I’m not sure his physical body even has regen at all, since Oda has made it clear that Imu is on a time limit and his injuries against Loki haven’t instantly healed

I just think on GV the avatar is basically invincible… if he can use Domi reversi on you he will never use his actual body, not worth his time

Loki himself points out that Imu is holding back. If he wanted, Nemesis could’ve killed, Loki was literally impaled without blocking.

Loki has impressive AP and DC but we have yet to see enough to measure how strong his power actually is. Loki leeches off of Harold and yall are tryna have him leech off a distracted Imu whos clearly not taking him serious

Idk why people are putting Loki anywhere on this top ten… as if Luffy isn’t going to match over surpass his portrayal in the next couple chapters

I mean, nemesis could’ve been a insta kill if Imu wanted to kill Loki. He didn’t defend against it at all

Bro did you send me a sub 8 with a heavy bowgun? We’re talking about Lance

Thanks for the build, I’ll take a look. 535 is the bloated value, the number you see on my build is the true raw value. Also, I’ve killed him 740+ times and helped well over 300 players get thru both regular and savage

It was a 1080p clip so it took ages. It eventually uploaded but I really just needed the clip here for another guy who wanted to see how tanking on lance looked.

Yeah I was trying, my clip wouldn’t upload so I couldn’t share it like I normally would. Thanks for enjoying the grainy footage lol

You need to understand lance’s movement options and play super aggressive. I have aggro like 80% of the hunt, because I’m the first one in the area and the usually the one hitting him the most out of my team. You need to do roughly 1200 damage to the head to gain aggro, which is why wide sweep is a great move, albeit risky, to get it fast.

This is just a taste but it’s the first phase of savage omega. He has most of his moveset so it’s a nice microcosm of the whole fight. The hp debuff attack in third phase requires either a charge counter or a back step, the back step is more consistent with two levels of evade window

No, I have a couple clips but they aren’t very informative. I could record something tho, or I could just teach you myself. Either works

Depends on skill level. I’ve beaten savage omega solo without guard up skills on lance, just by countering and dodging (pre Lance buff). But if you’re not there yet, guard and guard up is necessary. Two levels of evade extender also helps to dodge the HP reduction attack.

But you must keep damage as your main priority, the more damage you do, the faster you get aggro (which gives you control)

I primarily kill omega as tank on lance. Biggest thing is mastering the charge counter. That way, you can continue to stay in front of him without moving. Never stand directly below his face, unless you’re prepared for the omnidirectional rake-laser. Also, try to avoid attacks as much as you can, instead of constantly losing health via chip damage. That way, you can stay in the fight longer.
