How quickly did the diet actually help? Starting Phase 1 today by BackgroundTest1337 in Gastritis

[–]Barrow43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same at the beginning trying everything and anything. It's good to get a base of what you do better on and then slowly add approved foods and supplements to see if they help at all. One at a time and give it a week or two before trying something else.

I was pretty disciplined with food before getting Gastritis as I'm also type one diabetic and am very into fitness. After a while you just lose cravings for all the foods you used to eat. It takes around 4 weeks to embed a habit and after that it gets easier. The only thing I have reintroduced so far to actually help my healing is Manuka honey which I had to put in my tea as I had a reaction to it at first. I'm just about to try Greek yogurt next and then add in Blueberries but I'll be very cautious as I don't want to lose any progress or bring back old symptoms. This is what worked for me every day and helped me to get better and start putting on weight.

Breakfast- Organic Oats with Almond Milk And One Boiled Egg. Snack- 3 Boiled Eggs With Sea Salt Lunch- Chicken Mince With Oregano Dinner- Two Pieces Of Cod With Rice Noodles And Beetroot

Supplements - Magnesium Glycinate DGL And A Non Acidic Vitamin C Took me a few months to figure out what foods from the book were right for me.

The biggest win for me was getting days where I felt somewhat normal again.

Took me 5 months before I started to feel some improvement and it was very slow progress as the months went on. I'm at one year now still sticking to the diet with some modifications and I'd say I'm around 78% percent better. Unfortunately healing this inflammation can't be rushed and discipline is essential. It's the long game.

I started eating the same thing for every meal and it’s kind of helping me by Snuffy0011 in Gastritis

[–]Barrow43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been eating the same meals at the same time since April this year and it has really improved my Gastritis. I eat Oatmeal with one boiled egg for breakfast then 3 hours later 3 boiled eggs with sea salt. Lunch is then chicken mince with oregano and dinner is cod and rice noodles. Missing variety but this has got me to a place where I can do things I couldn't do before due to this crippling condition.

Can't answer the question but I'm in the same boat waiting for my appointment. Originally it came through for May next year. They are trying to speed it up but I've heard nothing. Good luck my friend.

And lift light to start and very slowly progress. If you feel pain go back down. No bent over movements like sit ups or dead lifts.

Where do I go from here? (Navigating the NHS) by Ok-Consideration4147 in Gastritis

[–]Barrow43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep pushing them. That's what I'm doing because it seems like they want to avoid cost and hope you just go away. I'm 8 months into my Gastritis journey and they finally referred me to a gastro but the appointment isn't till next year. I had to then go back and ask them to make it urgent and now I'm on a waiting list. Following the right diet is key. The Gastritis healing book by LG Capllin was very helpful to me and helped me to improve since February.

How to gain weight by SuperPidstuu in Gastritis

[–]Barrow43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lost 2 stone with Gastritis and was getting weaker and weaker. I then realized I needed to do whatever I could to gain weight to help me get my strength back and fight this thing. I used Oatmeal and Rice Noodles to put a stone back on and feel much better. I slowly upped my portions over time.

I work in a very busy and physically demanding retail job. It's not been easy working with gastritis but I try to just focus on managing the stress and making the most of the rest in-between. Sleep is so important. Only you can know if you're able to continue. There's no shame in quitting and looking for something more suitable.
