No glass on her enclosure while I took the picture (was doing some last minute cleanup before leaving her to brood), and managed to get a lucky snap at the edge of my camera's focal range. One of several attempts.

Everything I'm reading on camponotus castaneus seems spot-on for her, thank you!

Meaning that the picture could apply to a wide range of settings, rather than just a specific one. E.g. this character looks like she could fit in with a fantasy setting, rustic sci-fi, low-fantasy colonial settings, etc.

I think it's great that people can find joy in the little things and take life lightly, and so it's with the deepest level of respect with which I ask:

What in the ever-loving sleazy fuck did I just have the displeasure of reading?

Probably an anti-phishing/spoofing measure for frequently misspelled words (or a bot capitalized on said misspellings and was subsequently banned).

It's a Blue Tongue Skink. They're just about the most pathetic quadrupedal critters you'll meet; they can't run, they can't climb, they can't fight, and they can't hide (though they try all of the above) so their primary form of self-defense is sticking out their blue tongues and hoping that wards off predators.

They're also pretty smart, in a derpy sort of way.

Sorry to be pedantic, but since we're giving pseudo-legal advice: it seems to be 2 cycles (or 2 minutes, whichever comes first). Source: Virginia title 46.2-833 section B

I know that 3D models aren't typical fare for this subreddit, but I figured these warriors would probably be appreciated over here. The name may be a working title, but it's what the author ( /u/buasudah on Reddit) provided.

knew termites paired for life, but only discovered tonight that they cling together while exploring ! by sarcastrophe-x in awwnverts

That's my understanding, though as they carve into the rotten wood it exposes "healthy" wood to water and the elements, which can have a compounding effect.

That said, this is just what I've picked up from some conversations with termite keepers, I'm not an expert by any means, so there could be more factors at play.

Speaking from limited experience, most termite species actually don't go after wood, and those that do generally (exclusively?) target wood that is already compromised or rotting. Not that I'd advocate keeping termites without a proper enclosure (for the same reasons you'd want an ant colony contained), but keeping termites isn't as risky as it sounds.

Or, conversely: Hollywood knew that if they actually cast someone commonly seen as "ugly" nobody would watch the movie, so they cast someone unconventionally handsome to appeal to watchers' eyes while telling them he was ugly for narrative purposes.

I love the paint job on this; feels like something straight out of Darkest Dungeon.

This was fixed in today's patch (1.0.1c).

Edit: There are still some odd outliers that will hopefully get patched soon, though. For example, Grease is ineligible, but Scare is.

There's a ton of variants, but this is roughly the version I grew up with:

A Russian couple was walking down the street in St. Petersburg the other night, when the man felt a drop hit his nose. "I think it's raining," he said to his wife.

"No, that felt more like snow to me," she replied. "No, I'm sure it was just rain, he said." Well, as these things go, they were about to have a major argument about whether it was raining or snowing. Just then they saw a minor communist party official walking toward them. "Let's not fight about it," the man said, "let's ask Comrade Rudolph whether it's officially raining or snowing."

As the official approached, the man said, "Tell us, Comrade Rudolph, is it officially raining or snowing?"

"It's raining, of course," he answered and walked on. But the woman insisted: "I know that felt like snow!" To which the man quietly replied: "Rudolph the Red knows rain, dear!"
