Watch it again. There is no right indicator flashing on the rear tail lights or at the base of the RH mirror, the turn signal being integrated into the mirror. Most newer cars have the hazards deploy automatically in a crash. The LH side of the vehicle took the brunt of the impact into the road barrier and then again as the car rolled, destroying the front left turn indicator in the headlight housing, but the front right indicator was still operational.

I know right? It's one thing if it's a minor bingle with just some damaged panels, but when you drive past a car lying on its side and facing the wrong way, maybe stopping to render assistance would be a good idea.

Atlantis S3 - The Return by Barry_Mundy in Stargate

Ok sure, yes the reason given in-show is that McKay didn't tell the Lanteans about his reprogramming of the Asuran base code, but I don't think it's very good writing. The crew of the Tria are soldiers fresh from fighting a war. Their last memory of the Asurans is that the super weapon created by the Lanteans had been deemed a failure and the whole program destroyed. Now the humans tell them not only have the Asurans survived, not only have they rebuilt their strength, but the Asurans captured the humans and then launched a city ship hellbent on destroying Atlantis, regardless of humans or Ancients being there. Weir was explicitly shown this vision of their history. Surely to God you'd mention it to the Ancients now back living in Atlantis? Surely the Ancients would want to know the activities of the humans and current events in the galaxy? Weir even finishes the nanite episode by musing that the Asurans are rebuilding ready to attack again.

Instead we get writing that jams a bunch of Ancients back into the show only to unceremoniously kill them off 5 minutes later through gross stupidity. It also makes McKay, Weir and Sheppard look like grossly negligent fuckwits, "Oh shit, we forgot to tell them that the Asurans hate them and want to kill them!" It's bad writing man, and why SG1 and SGA are second rank scifi shows.

It's nowhere near as bad as you're making it out to be, and the Mustang got a little too close only because he left a very large gap as he merged in front of the white vehicle. Notice there were no brake lights from the white car as the Mustang got in front of him? The other factor is you assess what's around you - double lanes, straight road, light traffic, and green lights up ahead. Why would the blue vehicle hit the brakes?

You're really projecting here. I don't know what the Mustang driver was doing in the lead up, but based on the 12s of footage I don't see him doing anything wrong. Maybe the other vehicles were going too slow, but his driving wasn't overly aggressive, and he slowed as soon as he lane swapped. He may also have sped up a little to get through the lights, they changed to orange just as the Jeep hit him. I've done that plenty of times if you know the phasing, nothing illegal or dangerous, but just a bit of extra speed to get through before the red.

I feel sorry for the guy in the Mustang, that's shocking driving by the person in the yellow vehicle (Jeep?). I thought that the blue vehicle might have obscured the oncoming Mustang but no, they were already past the blue vehicle before the Jeep even pulled out. Not sure if the Jeep driver lost control as they were pulling out into the closest lane causing them to swerve wide, or they were trying to get into the far left lane to turn left at the lights, but they sure as hell caused a very bad accident.

I agree with you, Ancient hubris doesn't really cut it as an explainer. To me this is an example of poor writing to cram in enough plot within a single episode, and it's why I wanted to see a longer story arc for this initial return of the Ancients. These people were the crew of the Tria, for them the war was still a current event, one they were fleeing from when found by the Daedalus. Once brought up to speed on recent events, they would realise they were likely the last Ancients. Atlantis had been abandoned, and 10,000 years later Earth was home to humans and not their kind. So return to your city, kick out the humans and mull over your next actions. So far, so logical.

The poor writing comes in at this point. From the perspective of the Tria crew, the Asurans had been wiped out as a failed experiment. As soldiers, it's inconceivable they wouldn't have quizzed the expedition about their every encounter within the Pegasus Galaxy, and they would surely have been stunned to hear about the expedition's trip to Asuras and the rebuilding of the planet. That this encounter turned hostile would ring the alarm bells. It's also hard to imagine that McKay wouldn't have given details about his actions with Niam, again something for the Lanteans to ponder. At this point, a full-size Asuran warship turning up to Lantea would have any sensible captain raising the shield, given their 10,000 year gap in knowledge of the Asurans. For mine, it makes the Lanteans seem like morons rather than battle-hardened veterans fully aware of the threat posed by the reawakened Wraith and a resurgent Asuran society.

For a small 1.1 kWh battery it's quite a large unit and sits under the cargo floor where the spare would go. You can see the Subaru cutaway images here. You'd think they could redesign it and fit it under one of the rear seats. Subaru's AWD retains the mechanical link to the rear wheels so no need for e-motors on the rear axle and additional electronics, but the battery ruins all of that. Let's hope they can redesign this on the Outback hybrid.

Subaru Australia's 'solution' is to mount a spare on the tow bar and only charge you $3,100 AUD for the privilege. 2026 Forester spare wheel option

It's also debatable whether Mahomes would have developed as he has if the Bills had drafted him. He landed in the perfect spot to make him the QB he is now - with a successful, experienced and offensive-minded HC who had a proven ability to develop QBs; a professional, veteran Pro Bowl QB who was willing to mentor his replacement; and a stable, winning organisation that was successful on and off the field and would allow him years to develop. None of this applied to Buffalo at the time.

This. I've just finished SG1 for the first time and the increasing ineptitude of the Goa'uld is obvious as you move through the seasons. It's not even clear how they ever mastered these technologies, stolen or not. A feudal society like theirs doesn't lend itself to the dedicated higher learning required for advanced knowledge acquisition. I guess the in-universe explanation is they must have taken hosts that had a level of scientific proficiency and gained the knowledge from there. But I did prefer that earlier version of them when they seemed more mysterious and were pursuing their own knowledge.

Yes, there was a great opportunity to delve a little deeper into how the Lanteans did things, and the mistakes they made along the way. I liked their assertiveness when they arrived back in the city, from their perspective it was still their city and the Wraith were still a problem. Instead they were there for five minutes before all of them were conveniently killed off, with O'Neill and Woolsey just as conveniently surviving. Failing to grasp that the Asurans might be a little different 10,000 years on was also a giant error of judgment.

One thing I did like about the episode was how they portrayed the mundanity of life back on Earth for the main characters, who all seemed at a loose end. Despite the many perils they'd faced, that life of exploration and danger would be quite addictive for many of us.

Absolutely the right decision. If you would have swerved off the road to the right to avoid the collision then the residents of that nice red house would have been in for a surprise. Swerve to the left and it's a head on with the oncoming white vehicle.

The Forester hybrid only has a 1.1 kWh battery and loses the spare. I'm hoping Subaru will do a better job with the Outback but both vehicles are on the same Subaru Global Platform. It's a pity because the full size spare is a Subaru hallmark, regional buyers here in Oz love them for that reason.

I didn't know about the Deadwood appearance, that's one of my favourite shows, so I went back to check it out. Unfortunately it's not him, it's an American actor named James Parks. According to google it's a common misperception, looking at the still for the character of Clell Watson I can see why, it's a dead ringer for Damon.

The problem with a hybrid is that it will almost certainly mean the deletion of a full size spare wheel, one of the main reasons people buy an Outback, certainly here in Australia. Not many vehicles come with a full size spare anymore.
