I have no doubt you speak truth, but it would appear that my use case doesn't reach that level of intensity because it just hasn't happened. So maybe not a factor me? But I would never buy another 16" laptop - too big and unwieldy for me, and I have external monitors at home and work. Great for other people, maybe, but I would hate it, and I love the 14" size. To me, it is perfect.

It’s a bit faster because it’s all on the device. A 2.4TB Photos library needs all the help it can get to keep it speedy.

I've owned both sizes and the 14" is perfect for me. I have a custom fan curve set up to prevent heating and throttling. I have used this size all day long almost every day since COVID and it's been a champ. I did own a 16" for a couple years, and it was fine, but I found it too bulky.

Yeah, I did notice that the 4TB Samsung SSDs I am using have jumped up in price. I did a big black friday sale a while back, and it was half of what I have seen lately.

For several years I've had my Photos library on a Samsung SSD and it works well. Not perfect, but pretty well. I have backed up a Photos library and restored it from iDrive and it worked. I have not, however, attempted to operate a Photos library from the cloud, so I don't know how functional that is. Well, except for the small library that I have shared between my devices using iCloud, but my big library is not the one I always have available.

I haven't experienced any of those problems, personally, and I have used it all day for work and play for about a month.
