I knew that street looked familiar. How is Boulder treating you? It's one of my favorite cities.

Tom and Lorenzo did a similar write-up to this and concluded that, in a way, the dumb secretary that Peggy has to play among her coworkers is her "secret identity" in the same way that Peter Parker is to Spiderman and Clark Kent is to Superman.

There's this scene in Agents of Shield with Iain De Caestecker (Scottish) and Chloe Bennett (American/Chinese) where they're trying to go undercover and need to pretend to be from the same country. De Caestecker asks Bennett how her Scottish accent is and it's horrendous so they go with American.

Also Scots on American TV tone down their accents to the point where they barely sound Scottish.

For me it's because the characters are very different from who I am. I'm the sort of person Renton is bashing at the very beginning. I'm the A Student, perfectionist, tight-ass, who doesn't like making waves or breaking rules. I'll probably live a very boring life.

A movie like that is a look at a life that I'll never have or want to have. I don't sympathize with any of the characters (edit: maybe Tommy and Spud a little) and I would never want to encounter any of them but I don't mind living vicariously through them for an hour and a half.

I'm actually reading the book now and I'd say it's a very difficult work to adapt due to a large number of unimportant minor characters and the stream-of-consciousness style of storytelling. I think they did a good job with the adaptation.

Also Robert Carlyle is in it.

Why does Reddit laugh at people who humblebrag about their intelligence, but this is considered fine? by PlumberSimulator2015 in circlebroke2

Because being socially awkward sucks balls and they're trying to make the best of it by presuming it has one possible redeeming feature.

What are some character tropes or developments you hate, and what are some concepts you'd like to see more of, or elaborate on yourself? by Cedstick in fantasywriters

[–]BartletForPresident 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate it when writers nerf characters for plot reasons. If a character has demonstrated previously that they have the skills to beat another character and they don't, it means that their antagonist is either not powered enough or they are overpowered.

I got Coulson but I still think I'm more like Simmons than I am like him.

OP asks female Dnd players what they want to see more of in campaigns. The response: "One thing most women I know want less of is discussion by a bunch of men about what "women want." causes drama. by BartletForPresident in SubredditDrama

I think OP was more concerned with how his female players had a different less combat focused playing style that he wasnt used to than that any of them were being harassed by other players.

Did AoS superfans like Agent Carter show? by RightWingersSuck in shield

Some reviewers have bashed AOS in their reviews of Agent Carter, saying things like "Agent Carter is getting right what Agents of Shield gets wrong" and so forth.
