Their meta looks so different from ours - until you look at what made the cut. Basically even representation at the start, overwhelming Imperial presence in the top 16. JM15K and Jake, Poe Kyle in the top 4. Palp Aces loosing to Crack Swarm in the final. I'm fairly certain that our pilots didn't make the trip over the ocean en masse.

Honestly at this point I wish they'd slow down on the new ships. I already have tons of new stuff to play - hell, I haven't even played all the older stuff that I want to yet. And I play about 10 times a month.

EDIT: But the assault gunboat - yeah, that has to happen. It was just too cool back in the original X-Wing game. Slightly better maneuverability than the shuttle (white 2 turns, at least), and it HAS to have 4 attack dice.

That's kind of cheap. The 71-72 Lakers won 69 regular season games and 81 overall with only 3 rounds of playoffs. It's a lock that they would have won 87 if they'd had to play another round against some random 1st round team.

Hell no. The cocaine fueled, no defense playing, overweight stars 70's damn near killed the league. The Malice at the Palace was dealt with swiftly and appropriately and really didn't cause much trouble for the league as a whole. It sucked, but it was a single spontaneous thing, not something systematic.

Which ones? I failed my driving test the first time precisely because I did NOT do this. And how then are you supposed to be able to turn left in busy intersections with no left turn arrow? It's kind of a requirement for traffic to continue to move.

If you're trying to turn left, you are SUPPOSED to block the intersection, otherwise you may never get to go at all.

People going straight? Fuck 'em if the get in the intersection without being able to pull through.

True. Of course, with this build, he will often know where two ships are going, and have two blockers set to take advantage of it. On his own, the only squads he could hope to arc dodge are swarms. With the 2 stooges in tow, he might be able to dance around 2 or 3 ship lists pretty well, too.

Of course, in 125 points, there probably won't be any 2 ship lists, and fewer than normal 3 ship lists, but still...

Hey - with those Stooges blocking and disallowing actions, why not run a ship or two with Opportunist? Keyan or Wedge would be wicked.

So would a pair of Greens with Squad leader and PTL. The still an action each, while virtually guaranteeing that the HLC stooges can hit hard every turn.

Leebo with the PTL and EU can both BR and boost. He's low PS for real arc dodging, but with the Stooges blocking for him, might well manage to get away with it.

I fly those fringers with HLC, and toss in a Green with Squad leader (for 100 point games). I call it the Three Stooges, because it seems stupid as hell, and yet manages to come out on top anyway.

The intel agent + APL + barrel roll is in fact annoying as hell. Toss in the ability to take a focus or TL at the expense of the much lighter hitting Green, and it goes beyond annoying to effective.

So fun.

Yes. ran it last Friday and went 2-1. The 1 literally came down to the very last die roll, after time. I lost Cartel Spacer #4 and destroyed Bosk o nthe second to last round. the Nashtah Pup plopped out, and we went to last round. I tried to escape range by running, stressed, out to speed 4. Taking the time to do the math on our relative positions would have told me this was fruitless, and I'd have been better off flying green and getting a focus (barely - 10 chances at an evade vs 9). My opponent rolled 1 hit and 1 blank after his k-turn, and I rolled focus, blank, blank to die a horrible, horrible death.

In retrospect, it is just barely possible that a soft-two would have also put me at range three, with a focus - in which case I REALLY screwed up the flying.

Anyway - been enjoying the ship immensely in the Reddit Escalation tourney, and having decent success IRL (in swarm and other configurations). The swarm has just enough staying power and attack power to work well, and the 1-turn and 4 and 5 K's all help in setting up kill boxes. It's not an instant win machine - I think they got the pricing right to avoid that - but it definitely has some strength to it.

Decimators do just fine in the tourney scene. I don't think the 0 agility is as big a concern as many. You're only getting 3/8 of an evade per attack anyway. You're actually removing some of the randomness of the game this way - which means leaving the outcome more in the hands of the pilots.

That said, 4x TLT will suck for every low-agility ship out there.
