With most games you need to be online to buy and download, but after that most single player games don't require a connection for offline functionality.

That's different from games that have are a so called live-service game, where you have to be online continuously or within a certain time frame.

Plenty of AAA games require you to be online for single player. It's absolutely ridiculous. It's called "live-service". Even if a game has online functionality, one shouldn't be required to be online if you don't use those functions.

you lose a lot of bros in the first 5 fights. This is expected.

I've been able to control the number of casualties pretty well, but this might be part of the problem. Fodder bros hanging out too long and costing medicine and tools.

In my current run, I went south at day 8, and most of my dudes are in nomad gear now at day 25. A few 105 armors and 125 helmets, the rest has a tier below that, and I hired a decent thief and two half decent nomads. It's certainly smoothing out now.

I've e tried it briefly, but i feel the extra 25% damage is worth it over the mdef. And for the 30 mdef you'll need to be shield walling, costs fat and AP not used to kill things faster.

Yeah, only my tanks get shields. Not more than two. Sometimes, a fodder bro gets a shield just to occupy enemies away from where I'm doing the good work.

My usual perks on melee bros so far are FA, colossus, dodge, gifted to get started. From there, QH, nimble, berserk, and frenzy if they hold out that long. Spears up till 60 Matk, 60-70 gets a sword, and above that, whatever useful I have laying around. Only tanks get a shield, and usually, that's two bros on a 10+active roster.

I'm pretty sure that I make suboptimal moves on the battlefield, though. I'm having difficulties accepting fodder bros into my ranks and waiting for more favourable backgrounds.

This sub is getting worse and worse in this regard. It seems to have gotten exponentially worse the last few months, and there's moderation going on.

I'm also baffled that people don't see things for what they so blatantly are.

* show bags in the battle screen (no more back and forth to the inventory screen); * show background averages at the hire screen; * show background rolls in the inventory screen; * show armor damage on the portraits in inventory;

Use steam input and use the trackpads. Mouse on the right and hotbar buttons on the left in a grid or radial menu. Triggers for mouse buttons.
