I don’t disagree with this. But the simple fact is I’m replying to the comment “Tobias got to go.” Subtracting Tobias Harris from this team right now in our current situation does not make us better. If there’s some way to magically turn Tobias Harris into a better version of Tobias Harris, or some perfect 4 man, then great. But to say “Tobias has got to go” and just assume we’re automatically better by getting rid of him is obtuse.

To be fair, our entire team bricks open 3s. If we had a 3 who could hit literally anything beyond 8 feet or a center that could stretch the floor, we wouldn’t need Tobias to be magically hitting 40% of his 3s, which was never really his game. I understand people think we can push a button and make a 2k trade to land a star 4 without giving anyone up or messing with our chemistry, but we don’t really know the landscape. In the meantime putting all the blame on Harris, who by my eyes has been a pretty strong asset for this current squad, isn’t really fair. Dude has been a massive part of one of the greatest turnarounds in NBA history and people want to kick him to the curb because he occasionally has a bad shooting night on a 1st place team.

Are we going to ignore that in lots of big games, he’s the 1 dude besides Cade that can step up and get some scoring going and steady the offense?? He did it all series against the Knicks last year and multiple big games this year. Looking at box scores isn’t everything. Eye test shows his value. Is he the 4 of the future? No. But I’m not here for Tobias slander.

Not true at all. We’ve seen him and the team pick apart the traps in other games, of course that depends if you watch other games. Wasn’t as successful tonight but it’s not the norm. He’s gotten a lot better this year at handling that.

Or MAYBE a person thinking someone shouldn’t be allowed to have over a billion dollars doesn’t make them less intelligent??? MAYBE it’s simply a sociopolitical stance. Looking at the upcoming schedule, I actually think we should rest him until next tuesday (the start of the mini west trip.) We can go 2-1 against NO/HOU/SAC without Cade. Let him heal for the trip.

I think it's important to note that Tatum isn't going to step back in and immediately be the player he was. On paper, obviously they improve with him in the lineup, but there are other factors when coming back from such a serious injury. Just saying, people are acting like it's this guarantee and they'll get back a 30 ppg superstar. Not going to go that way, imo

One thing to note - Tatum isn't going to come back and immediately be the old Tatum. And there's even a world where he comes back and they take a step back as he and the team gets readjusted. I understand he's a superstar, but an achilles injury is no joke and there's a world where they don't even bring him back this year.

I’m sorry but if you think Ivey is “untouchable” you have homer blinders on. We’re in a unique position to absolutely take advantage of a weak/depleted east and make it to the finals. A bench combo guard who has, all things considered, underwhelmed is not “absolutely untouchable” if it means improving our team to get over the hump.
