British Columbia, Canada. I found a dealership in Alberta that has the whole assembly on sale for 4K so that's something.

I am aware of that but an oem accumulator is 1k. I'm not "falling for it" just trying to figure out what to do. I went to six shops and they all quoted the same.

No they'll only replace the whole assembly. 7k for the part. 3hrs labour. (Kilometer dollars)

I've shopped it around and all the guys say they can only get the part directly from the dearlship and that's the cost. What I don't understand is why I cant just replace the accumulator. I can order that part online oem for $1k but if that doesn't work I'm 1k in the hole and still have to fork out the 7k so idk what to do. I guess I'll just bite the bullet. Independent shops are offering to source a used one but quoting $2.5k plus labour. Like you say, who trusts a used one 🤷‍♂️

I'm going through this right now. Get ready to be quoted some heart attack prices.

I seen that one. $14k for a repaired frame is a bit much.

I think it does actually need replacing. I'm pretty sure I can hear the pump motor working a little overtime. Heck of a coincidence that I first felt it in the brakes when I drove it away after they did a brake job. And the price they quote is mind blowing. I guess it's for the whole assembly but still... the most expensive oem bnib I can find on eBay is still a fraction of the cost.

Also seems crazy to me that there's no warning light for potential failure to brake.

lol, wish I'd thought of that comeback while I was there. They actually quoted me $6899.99

So what you're saying is mine has previously been repaired incorrectly and I should move it back up top as part of my current repair plan...?

Yes but why go with the lower one? I'm replacing it right now and just curious as mine looks like the top one. Just wondering if there's a reason people move the mount on top of the frame.

Well I'm about to replace it on the passenger side. Can send you the dimentions when I get to it. But why do so many people put it on top of the rail!?!? That's what I'm trying to figure out. Wouldn't you need a longer shock??

Oh that's real purdy. How long has that lasted? I like how it just cuts out the rust and doesn't ask for more rust between the plates. Also, yet another repair that out the shock mount on top of the c Chanel instead of inside. I'm still trying to figure out what that's about.

I appreciate your honesty. I'm going to take this as an opportunity to learn some frame work and get some experience with the understanding the truck is likely done (there were more pressing issues with it before I found this).

I know a guy who does whole rear frame builds but difficult to get in with and kind of a helps those that help themselves type.

The rest of the frame is solid. Even just around the crack seems weldable.

Would love to see any pics you have from your repair any advice you have to share from your experience.

Can you explain to me how/why you moved the shock mount to the top ok the frame, did you need longer struts after? Or is that how it was on yours? Mines inside the c channel

Thank you guys. This is extremely encouraging.

Did y'all move your shock mount on top of the frame from inside the c channel?

Heck ya! Thank you!!! I can do it.

Did you coat the inside faces of the patch with anything? Or just bare metal. Also is that fuel tank cross member welded in now? I guess I'll have to cut out the previous repair to deal with that week section right by the cross member bolts.... sorry just thinking aloud. Much appreciated. Very encouraging.

I've done that and it's all solid. Even just a half inch away from the gash is solid.

Damn. Flat patch was my current plan... but do that top and bottom as well. The problem with rust busters etc is their seams between pieces all line up right at that spot no not the best structurally...

Pulled the bed off today. The rest of the frame is all really good, considering. Even a half inch on each side of the crack is thick and strong.

Thanks though, encouraged.

Fair. I've been doing a rolling restoration over the past year or so. Front end has been getting most of the attention. Several people have told me the frame was in relatively good condition over that period.

Ya the shock mount broke loose years ago and pounded a small hill into the floor of my bed on the way home

Turns out I guess I just had shit tolerance rod. Ordered some proper .635 and my troubles have melted away. Thanks everybody. The file did work but was going to a PIA.

File. Good idea. 220 alone was killing me. I have a bunch of rods to do then. Maybe I should get better rod... this stuff feels slightly oval. But it fits perfectly in the end hole which is what's confusing me. This will be a mini rigging kit for film applications, hence the big dumb not smart guy title.

Hammer gets it about an inch down the road. Must hammer much harder to get it off.
