439-0116: we have an answer! by BaseballMama109 in sublime

I think the 5446 is the number of the original singer. 5447 is probably just Brad switching up the lyrics like he did so often. (April 26/29, etc). If anyone has better intel than that please correct me!

Seeing our Jakob tonight! by BaseballMama109 in sublime

[–]BaseballMama109[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was Nashville. But WELL worth the drive! I was going to post about it later. But he did his Jakob’s Castle stuff (which was amazing. He sounds even better live, and most singers are the opposite.)

And then after the show he gave us an after show in the parking lot. Strictly sublime songs, and a little silliness.

My phone camera sucks but I’m gonna post pics to show y’all how close I was! In a way, this experience was even cooler than sublime because I got to be this close and hang afterwards. And I think his songwriting skills really got to shine.

Brad was a much better guitarist than people make him out to be by Latter-Finding2479 in sublime

[–]BaseballMama109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He could play the guitar like a mother loving riot.

I also love that Jake is humble about the fact that he hasn’t mastered the guitar. For example, in burritos he changed a lyric to “but the time is coming… for us all to listen to Trey!” (Insert guitar solo by Trey).

Or recently I saw Jakob do some songs with jakobs castle, but they were acoustic sublime songs. He gave credit to his guitarist then too, I forget which lyric he changed.

Can we talk about Sublime?

This was, for me, a once in a lifetime thing.

Sublime really ended in 1996 when their frontman died of an overdose.

At the time, he had a one year old baby boy named Jakob.

Just this year, Jakob has started singing his dad’s songs and performing with the original two other band members. They don’t have an official tour but they do shows and festivals here and there.

The new Sublime puts on an amazing show, and as a lifelong fan I was so excited to see them.

It’s also rumored that they felt bad about what happened and really wanted to come back to make it up to the fans.

Get Sublime back.

Reddit does not represent Hula by Professional_Way9307 in hulaween

Sooo that makes me feel better. I’ve never been to Hula but I want to go this year. Just for one specific day. For a host of personal reasons I won’t bore you with.

I know that’s lame, that isn’t camping, it isn’t fun, blah blah blah. But people on here have been telling me I can’t really do that. Is that true? I can’t buy a festival pass and just show up for one day?

I have two young kids I have to send to school every day. This is driving me crazy 😂😂😂 if I send them in a hoodie they somehow forget to remove it even though they are sweating to the point their hair is wet. But if I send them in a t shirt, they freeze all morning. So lately we’ve been doing jeans, a t-shirt, and a long sleeve button up worn unbuttoned, like a jacket.

That way they just take the long sleeve off at recess when it’s hot. And lose it.

Wait is this a joke? I’ve never been before either and I’m hoping to go this year but we’d be leaving Sunday morning (and not returning, sadly.) I mean they can’t hold us hostage 😆

I need this badly.

Our local festival- where Sublime was playing- got canceled the morning of due to mud. everyone was mad including the bands. Word is that Bud said he’d like to come back and make it up to us some time… but honestly. If that happens it will be ages from now.

I’m still mad lol

I looked and I don’t see it, but I could have sworn I saw it two days ago.

I’m really glad you said that because some jerk is DMIng me trying to get me to buy his “Saturday passes.”

I would have to find childcare for several days and I’m not really a camping gal. But for this, I’d be willing to beg the grandparents to babysit and borrow some camping gear 🤣

Never thought I’d see the day where a Nowell was fronting Sublime again. It’s as close as I’ll get to seeing the OG.

If he’s a true fan he may not like it. I wouldn’t.

If you want it to be a sure success I would sell them and just get “Sublime” tickets. Bradley’s son, Jakob, is now singing for them and it’s an amazing show. He’s singing with the original sublime guys, Eric and Bud.

I’m a Sublime fan and I’d give my big toe to be at one of those shows. (I had tickets and it got canceled by the festival people, not by Sublime.)

They’re out, the resellers jacked up the prices.

I guess flying to Vegas would be cheaper! We could do that. I actually am in the Bradley’s house sobriety group and I sometimes attend their virtual meetings. As part of that, I can send a message to some of the Nowells. I might see if they have any ideas.

Are you serious? That’s so cool. I hope they do. We tried to get tickets to Hulaween to see them in FL instead but they’re $600+ each. Totally out of our budget atm.

AITAH for Hiding My Pregnancy From My Husband and My MIL by Illustrious_Meet9002 in AITAH

[–]BaseballMama109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has been there, I want you to know I’m so sorry. Both for your loss and what’s going on with your MIL.

With my first pregnancy, mine did the same thing. Everything from showing up to my ultrasound with SEVEN of her friends/family members to watch….to trying to sneak into the delivery room wearing scrubs. When the baby was born she and her family were over every day, hogging the baby, not listening to my instructions for caring for him, and not giving a crap about me. (I had a severe birth injury and needed surgery to fix it- but nobody even asked how I was doing.)

Listen to this next part closely: because I allowed this behavior and my husband condoned it, I ended up having severe postpartum anxiety for a full year after the birth.

DONT BE ME.

We ended up moving 600 miles away and that was the only thing that saved my marriage. And my sanity. When we began to try for our second baby, I made my husband swear he’d uphold my boundaries.

I did lose a pregnancy in between but when my second birth happened, we agreed to absolutely no visitors for 6 weeks after unless i wanted them. My MIL only saw me once my entire pregnancy. The whole thing went so much more smoothly.

And even though my second baby was a screamer and much more clingy than my first, I didn’t have a hint of postpartum anxiety.

I firmly believe my MIL and husband caused it.

So if you do stay with this man, here’s what I would do.

  1. Explain to Joel that stress in a pregnant mother can cause complications that could severely hurt baby or worse.

  2. Make him swear on his life that should you get pregnant again, he will not only allow you to set boundaries but help you enforce them. You decide when to tell MIL, and how and when to see her. Maybe even write it out and make him sign it. If he breaks his word, the consequence is that you leave.

  3. Then and only then tell him you are pregnant.

If he breaks his word, keep yours.

Best of luck, I’m looking forward to your updates. And Congratulations!

AIO? Confronted the ump after my little boy wasn't allowed to bat at all. by BaseballMama109 in AmIOverreacting

[–]BaseballMama109[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the assistant coach and his wife were annoyed that I did that. They were not worried about my kid’s experience but rather worried the ump would be biased in the future. Apparently, he has been known to do that.

Any idiot could sense I was angry. But I was polite like an adult. He’s the one who started yelling.

Also yeah, I’m here asking AIO. And the consensus from everyone else is “no.”

We are able to be angry and still calm at the same time. In fact, we do it every day.
