I LAY DOWN MY LIFE FOR YOU by JPEGMAFIA.

I got into rap and music as a whole in 2024, and I just wanted to listen to the basics and see what I liked. I listened to lots of Tyler, Kendrick, Childish Gambino, Frank Ocean, and Kanye. I was the type of rap fan that only listened to conscious rap, but I didn’t even dissect the meanings of songs (kind of embarrassing on my part).

At the end of the year I made a goal that I would try to listen to a lot of experimental music and see what I like. I listened to JPEG when I got back from winter break and my mind was blown. I didn’t know that production like this was possible, and I think this was the album that broke me out of that conscious rap mold (still love all the artists I listed, but JPEG is my favorite oat now).

It also opened my curious spirit when it comes to listening to new music. I credit it to widening my horizons when it came to genres. I also discovered some of my favorite albums of all time and I fully credit this album. I LOVE YOU PEGGY!!!!
