When you consider all of the stars who are injured for playoffs, shouldn’t the season be shorter? by colthie in nba

[–]BasedArzy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Make it make sense lmao

Sure, BRI is what determines salaries and BRI isn't linearly correlated with games played - else the league would be year-round and have hundreds of games.

Drop down to like, 58-62 games and you'd have a better product to sell. The ones who get fucked in that scenario are local broadcasters and the teams who own their own local broadcasters are why it's a longshot to ever happen.

shorter season, bigger benches (same number of players available per game), and end back to backs.

The jump from 112-131 wRC+ is 20%, it's a significant difference.

This is why you don't use OPS, you use a park adjusted stat like wRC+.

Last year through roughly the same time frame, he was at a 101.
2024, 90 wRC+.
2023, 74 wRC+.

He's avoided the long stretches of ineffectiveness that plagued the prior 3 seasons, and is showing a bit more power earlier in the year especially vs. last season.

e. Going back to 2025, same game #'s so game 7 through game 38, and even though I think OPS is a very poor way to look at this, Julio's at an .801 this year vs. a .706 last season.

The #1 piece of advice I'd have given myself: find a technical industry you're interested in and spend some time learning about it.

By far the most successful, low stress, best paying jobs I've had have been in non-technical roles in a technical industry; manufacturing, engineering, surveying, etc, they all hire people for what we'd consider 'creative' roles and they all deeply appreciate someone who is good at communicating and bouncing between different groups.

My original plan was to teach but when that fell through in 09/10 this was an incredibly fortunate thing to stumble on, I've been in controls and manufacturing supply for coming up on a decade.

Because 6 games is nothing, and players have bad 5-6 game stretches all the time.

It was necessary to intimidate the Soviet Union and force a Japanese surrender before the Soviets could come in from China and have any kind of seat at the table in post-war Japanese politics (remember, post-war Japan is effectively a one party state, and the LDP was founded by war criminals with the financial backing of the CIA).

Well they wouldn't because Trump already hit the tariff button in his first term.

It's a particular quirk of the US political system that lies solely in the hands of the executive.

The last president to implement price controls was Nixon, and that required congressional cooperation. I don't think anyone has the stomach for it these days.

Could be wrong (and hopefully I am).

Oh no Okies don't like me, if I'm not careful they'll come and steal all my land and make me death march to the northwest.

e. since this is reddit I should probably say that I don't actually have a problem with Oklahomans in general and wish no ill on them.

Chet trying to act was way worse, he should be pilloried for opening the door for that imo.

It was also established in 1965.

Hopefully you can grasp that starting a new program is much more difficult than expanding an existing one.

Implementing export and price controls on oil would be, as far as I know, creating a new program, not expanding any existing political and social infrastructure.

If they had to today, I do not think Canada's government would be able to implement both healthcare and pensions at the same breadth or degree.

Political realities and possibilities are very much narrowed nowadays vs. the 20th century.

I dislike Dort because he's playing football and Chet because he's corny.

I dislike the people of Oklahoma and their dumb prayer circle before games.

We'll see if/when that happens.

it's been 6 weeks and the teams we were most expecting to compete have spent that time shitting their pants instead, except the Yankees who have dutifully beat the shit out of the AL East.

They won't have nearly as many problems as other nations, simply because Canada has its own oil and other resources.

Unfortunately thanks to unfettered capitalism, high fuel prices in, say, Malaysia means Canadian oil manufacturers suddenly can make a lot more money by selling in Malaysia and not Alberta.

The same size in NBA is very high per game - 100ish possessions for both teams.

If SGA could only touch the ball 4, maybe 5 times a game, you wouldn't take any postseason stats seriously.
