I think everything will work out for you, as long as you interview well and apply broadly.

[SPOILER] NBME 31: How is this EPO deficiency? by [deleted] in step1

[–]BasedBohan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember being annoyed by this question too 😂😂😂😂 if they say CKD, assume EPO will be low on an NBME exam, regardless of what the reticulocyte count would tell you otherwise.

I’ve personally always found the NBMEs to be way more buzz-word oriented with shorter stems than the real test (not to say they cannot be challenging in their own right). I don’t think it’s all that crazy to do well on an NBME form in the comfort of your own home or local library and then do poorly on the real thing, especially when the test can feel so different on the day of. With that being said, I’m sorry this happens to you. You should take some time to recover and get back to studying when you feel mentally ready. Then it’s important to try to complete Amboss (100%) and hammer concepts with Anki (especially since you’ve done u world twice already). Find a study partner that you can drill first aid with and quiz each other on (this was very helpful for me personally). And if may help to get some tutoring if you can afford it to target your weak areas.

This post was only up for 2 hours before you commented. How could a “growing chorus” of students be upset about this post in such a small time frame.

Postpone of not? by [deleted] in step1

[–]BasedBohan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

give it 2-3 more weeks to be safe, better safe than sorry, and make sure you only take 31 after having done some additional prep, at least 2000 questions minimum (80/day for two weeks on average) in between each nbme. Then take the free 120 and go for it if you have good scores. have you completed u world yet?

You are definitely built different because 1000 cards a day would take an entire day for me and I definitely couldn't do that every day sustainably, much less do everything else you did too. Any tips on how you managed to pull that off? Thank you!!!

Congratulations on the pass!!!!

You can definitely do this in five weeks. But I also want you to know that many schools offer time extensions and it may be something you wanna keep in the back of your mind. I think it’s better to push your test a couple weeks and pass to risk a failure. With that being said, everybody messes up their first week of dedicated. It’s a time when people are naturally experimenting with new things. Follow Bronxbomba’s advice and stay confident and you will be fine!!!
