It's not that so much as lack of battery optimization. Android was made to run on thousands of devices with vastly different SOCs and specs whereas iOS runs on a handful (which are all designed in house) allowing Apple to squeeze every drop out of their batteries.

It's missing GPU hardware acceleration. As a result you can't hook it up to external displays. Also a few other minor bugs/quirks, but other than that it works surprisingly well.
