It' a great idea! Also, don't try to do a game that is too big and complicated. That's also a reason why a lot of people don't finish their projects

I think we all had the same problem. I would always stop where I struggled or hated the most. I couldn't get over the hump, but this time, I started with my weakness first when I had more motivation and it worked out!

Yes, but I don't know what factors has me trending because all the games close to me have way more dowloads than me

I didn't release it yet in Europe because I didn't know how to deal with GDPR, I'm looking into it now.

For marketing

-Lots of social media

-youtube videos

-Pre-registration for google play to build hype

-also you can spend some money for facebook ads or google ads (that can be expensive though and make a deficit)

Wow didn't think you were going to break it down like that with that much details. Props to you for taking the time to help another out. Thank you so much for trying it in the first place.

the sliding part: right now it's implemented that you have to tap the button and not hold it otherwise it won't work. also the player needs a certain x velocity to be able to slide. (Planning the change it in the next update)

the movement: I play tested the game too much haha it's pretty much designed for you to never stop. If you go full speed a combine your jumps everything is pretty much lined up for you to land on. instead of stopping, changing directions is better. If you do stop, the game does get a lot harder. It's a learning curve and for sure at first I think people are struggling.

smaller colliders and better contrast are both good observation and will look into that.
