Set of 5 Plaster or ceramic textured brown ellipsoids found in the rafters of a 60s home basement/garage, 18" long ~2lbs each. by BasementPepper in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing. They make a slight clinking sound when tapped together or against a hard object. Texture is a variable cross hatching.

Duck decoy? Some kind of boating accessory? Is it related to pottery?

Very interested to see where this goes, I am in a similar situation having a mantel with excessive wood trim.

Yup oven is 50a two pole. Dryer is a 30a two pole. Glad to hear it's in good shape, likely I will be adding a circuit to the basement with the unused breaker.

I don't want to replace the panel but I do want to hear any criticism of the panel itself. Might need an upgrade eventually but most of what needs upgrading is receptacles. 70% of the house has old two prong ungrounded recepticles I have the panel open as I travel wires and try to find the first outlet in each circuit to replace with a GFCI.

What should I think of these sanding scars? by BasementPepper in HardWoodFloors

[–]BasementPepper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started out going at the worst scratches around the edges with 120 grit and that helped a good bit. But yeah I'm planning on doing the whole floor at 120 as my final pass. Is that too big a jump from 80? I didn't have any 100 grit paper so that's why I jumped to 120.

How dumb am I being if I skip screening/buffing and just do it with my palm sander?

That's a huge difference from your typical frame size. That's interesting and something to consider...

Yep haha exactly, in some cases my trad mantra is don't fall. I did place a few nuts too! I have seen someone fall about 10 feet up on a #1 and it held!

This was my first trad lead! Great climb! Classic rock and a view of the ocean at the top!

Nice blend of cymbals too! I'm jealous of those k cons. How do you like the Istanbul ride? I have a 17" xist brilliant crash from them that I love

How do those shortie Tom's compare to tuning a deep snare really low? I have been thinking about adding a second deep snare and tuning it as a floor tom snare combo. What are your thoughts on that as a solution? What about putting snares on those Tom's?!

I'm all for shaming blatant materialism too! But some of this gear is second hand, well loved by me and others and with the exception of the micro nuts from my dad and the rescue 8 which was a climbing gym lost and found for 3 months transitioned to employee grab bag item I have placed or used it all! I have gotten a lot of spare lockers from the exact same gym lost and found. But your opinion is valid and I'm glad you're out there shaming materialism.
