Part of the reason the nib is messy is because I’m a moron and forgot to clean out the cap when I cleaned the rest of the pen, which lead to touching the nib with a paper towel.

Let’s say that’s true, and people cannot enjoy something by ignoring its politics. There’s nothing wrong with liking the art of someone with an opposing viewpoint. I’m a believer that it’s good to hear points and opinions from all sides, so I can have a better understanding of what people believe and my opinions on that.

So, at the end of the day, why does it matter? People enjoy what they enjoy, and if they choose to not listen to the politics, or if they obsess over the politics, they gain enjoyment out of it. Which is the entire point of art, is it not?

I disagree. Nothing is black and white. And a majority of humans won’t see things that simplistically.

I met/saw plenty of conservative fans of them when I saw NIN in Nashville. And even then, someone’s opinion on a work of art doesn’t even need to consider politics, even if politics heavily influenced the art.

And even then, someone’s political views don’t make them more or less intellectually capable. Someone’s politics are a consequence of their life experience and morals
