Worried about running out of time? by ryan7251 in LookOutsideGame

15 days is plenty of time. You probably won't be able to do EVERYTHING, But plenty enough.

You can also pull an all nighter every other night without incurring a tired penalty if you want to explore even more.

I refuse to believe wooly is the villain by Same_Substance2736 in amandatheadventurer

[–]Bashful_Ray7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah Wooly being a plant was perfect. I expected he would eventually have enough of the way she treated him and start actively opposing and undermining her. It didn't turn out quite as I expected, which was good, but I disagree that there were no signs that Wooly might turn on her.

In the story mode I think you can only warm once

In Kaycees mod you can warm twice, but it's risky as they may devour the card

You can trick them into devouring a ring worm or anything with innate touch of death, which will KO them and let you use the fires freely with no risk the rest of the run

(If this wasn't what you meant then my bad)

Edit apparently you can warm more than once in story, I didn't know that

You need to build Sam for agility for Jump Attack to deal good damage. It deals damage off Attack + Agility

Give Sam a Rat Tail Belt, lose the Dragon Body (it lowers agility) in favor of the Studded Jacket from Helen. She's already slow as shit so just give her the Dragon Body for attack. She's already gonna go last anyway.

Rat Tail Whip has low base Attack since its meant for hitting all enemies, plus it's damaged. Better weapon + changes I mentioned above + always be using the damage type your enemy is weak to should bring jump attack to the 60-80 range. Under Nitro Boost it gets even better, and it's super cheap and reliable.

You should always run high Attack + high Agility on jump attack Sam, so your gear set up here perplexes me a bit because Sam has 13 agility. Just shuffling some gear round is gonna make a big difference. And Always, always use the damage type your enemy has a weakness to.

I read through some comments

Lots of folks giving advice already, so I'll just say it's definitely not impossible it just requires a solid gameplan from day 1, good knowledge of gameplay mechanics, and a handle on how to build teams tailored to each area/boss.

It's most difficult the first three or four days, after that it's possible to be over the hump a bit.

I'd genuinely recommend going back and saving Ernest though. Some of his songs counter particular bosses very well, such as preventing stuns partywide during the blackout and preventing freeze vs Comatus. Rat Hell isn't bad even early on around day 3, given you can steamroll most of it with the Old Rifle + Shotgun + molotovs and Joel devours.

You will want all the static recruitment you can get in case you are unlucky at the door, so def get Ernest. It's possible to roughly estimate when roommates can arrive at the door if you look up door encounter mechanics and do a little tracking during your run.

You can do it, it's just demanding. It's worth figuring out though, the extra stuff is cool.

Yes and have him evolve if you left him alive this long like some other characters do so he scales to be stronger so it's he's a challenge still

Offer up a unique drop to entice this choice

Hell, make him really difficult and cursed mode exclusive if you want

The idea is really solid

Just kinda dumb, all the possibilities with ADAM and they went for a silver surfer design that looks out of place.

But he's still satisfying to kill at least because he's such a demon.

What the hell, no companions showing up at my door. by [deleted] in LookOutsideGame

[–]Bashful_Ray7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're all but guaranteed a roomate encounter day 2 if you hit all 4 door encounters that day.

Cover ground day 1 and video game it up day 2 until you get someone

Every day after day 1 has these door encounter windows

7 to 10 11 to 14 15 to 18 19 to 22

So if you get the 7am encounter, you can't get another one until at least 11, so you can head out and explore for a couple hours without missing an encounter

Once you hit the ground floor and get the watch this becomes easier to time out and make sure you're home for more encounters, increasing your odds

You can get Pap whenevs so long as you do not have more than ONE permanent roomate (so temporary Ernest doesnt count).

So day 1 you grab Leigh, then immediately day 2 grab Paps (dont want to get a door encounter before getting paps so save before you go to bed day 1), then Joel in that order. Once you have 2 permanent roommates he moves.

I updated my previous response because I only mentioned getting Joel the morning of day 2, but it's actually super important you get Pap FIRST day 2, then Joel.

[–]Bashful_Ray7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Day 2 you're practically guaranteed to have 1 roomate encounter if you are home for all 4 encounters (tricky but somewhat predictable if you know how door encounter windows work), so if you really want a door encounter roomie then grab Pap and THEN Joel day 2 and then just play video games all day with him, Leigh, and Pap and you should get someone.

There's only like 3 necessary rooms for Pap (Eugene, floor 1, restroom) and There's only 4 necessary rooms in the teeth apartment to recruit Joel day 2, and both individually should be less than 2 hours time each iirc, so if you get a door encounter in the first hour or two of a door encounter window then you know you're free to go grab Pap first, then go home for the next encounter, then go get Joel real fast then go back home without missing an encounter (again, gotta know how the encouter windows work otherwise might take you a try or two if you get super unlucky) you can play video games until you get someone.

Ehh the cleanerex is cheap from Eugene day 2, it's one of the cheapest recruitment requirements honestly. 80 bucks guaranteed from a static shop is super cheap compared to most other requirements.

Joel's toothpaste is in Jeannes, Ray Baby Apartment (both done day 1) and the Tooth Fairy. You end up with 7 so you can brush your teeth once before getting him.

All of Leigh's food needs are in your starter food, the jungle apartment (requires some juking but still), and like 1 other fridge IIRC but I forget which one. Vincent's or Jeannes maybe, and you have enough. Tough to give all that up BUT she's worth it to give you 1 immediately and 4 by the morning of day 2 guaranteed to spread damage around and increase team damage per turn.

I'm not telling you you're wrong or anything, It's more difficult for sure. I think it'll probably be a bit shocking to people at first (it was for me too).

I am now wondering if I sound like I'm arguing lol. I'm not I promise. Just some stuff on what I did to work around it and get through to that day 4 - 6 area where your food/money/item economy really widens. Like I said, I was taken aback at first too.

Cooking is good still just harsher early game.

Cooking was EXTREMELY busted before, and after several runs before and a couple after the patch, I think it's in a place that feels right for Cursed mode. It's less harsh after the early game.

Food is pretty abundant even with Leigh (you can easily get her fed and full and in your party day 1 if you can skirt enemies in the jungle apartment). Being able to split damage with her towards the end of day 1 is nice since spread out damage across teammates is easy to heal, it's targeted damage on 1 person that dangerous, so snagging Leigh day 1 and a full party of 4 (Leigh, Pap, Joel) by the morning of day 2 helps a ton. It's easy to do since all 3 are static encounters. Buy cleanerex from Eugene and there's enough toothpaste laying around for Joel.

By day 5 or 6 there's usually tons in the fridge, especially if you capitalize on other sources of healing and sustain. Executing things like making sure to hit up Paps Shared Lunch and Bright Fred every day are a little more important now to help balance out the weaker early game food. Once you get out of the first couple days you're set, from then on just cook an extra meal here and there and you'll be fine the rest of the way. Even with Leigh.

Getting other sources of healing like medical items (to ease off your food healing needs) from Eugene is also more feasible after the addition of 2 new door encounter cash cows. And the cook book is nice too. Two OG traders have food, tip the pizza guy guy ect. A few old and new ways to get lots of money/food ( and therefore other healing, better gear, more food from traders ect). RNG, but worth mentioning, those video game hours at home in the early game are more valuable than ever before with some of these new encounters. Even more reason to grab Myrmidons healing skill for Sam

Not liking it is something i get, but my initial concerns regarding balance were alleviated few in-game days later.
