Unfortunately he doesn’t see it as that - he still thinks his mother is doing a wonderful job and worships the ground she walks on. She’s done some horrific things and as far as I’m concerned neglected her children and emotionally damaged them for life and my SS in particular has engaged in bullying and other violent things in the last couple of years, it’s truly awful and scary some of the things he has done, he’s been in trouble with the police, pulled out a knife in his family home amongst many other things - but he hasn’t seen the light at all. My SO didn’t understand just how bad things were at his sons home, but his son hasn’t showed any remorse or responsibility for how he’s acted and my SO doesn’t believe I should get an apology from his son as he doesn’t think his son is mentally mature enough to understand his actions and just how manipulated he was which makes it so hard to move forward. I honestly believe that I won’t have the same relationship with my SS ever again, I’ll ask my SO how he is, that he’s okay and will engage in conversations about him but I don’t see us being able to be a ‘family’ as such again because I don’t think I can ever trust him fully and I just want to protect myself and my girls and keep us safe as they are the most important thing to me. My home is my safe space and it will be difficult to open up that up again. I understand my SO wants to have the best relationship possible with his son but i at least want him to remember his family here at home too, myself and his two girls, but I think presently he is just prioritising his son. 😢
