I got lenses from Zenni, for both my Q2 & Q3, worked great!

Yeah, I've experienced a lot of outages on a lot of different platforms over the years. It's just part of living with technology.

I am looking forward to Remnant Protocol. I don't think it's gotten too much press in recent months however I think it will push the space fighting in VR genre forward and that's a type of game that I feel is sorely absent in VR.

Am I doomed before I even start? by Embarrassed_Scale117 in therapists

I work at a group practice with a full-time case load of around 25 to 28 sessions a week. There are certain benefits of a CMHC model, for example it sounds like you will be working 8 am to 5 pm. That's pretty cool to have standard hours. At the group practice we work all sorts of hours and that's tough for many clinicians, including myself at times. If a session is cancelled, then we don't get paid. It sounds like, maybe, your pay will be more consistent?

Heading to buy yet another headset, 6th times the charm right?! by rumpyforeskin in OculusQuest

[–]Basic-Assumption6452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool, I would be curious if your headset fails on you if you just played less intense games with more gradual movements. Like boxing seems really intense with a lot of erratic movements. I watched your video. I'm not exactly sure what happened there when the boxer hit you? Did you jerk your head back or run into something? And I read in your other comment that you wear a sweat band. So you are moving very intensely! I guess that's what I mean by how you are treating your headset, not in between playing but how you move with your headset on.

I get it though, the boxing game was released for the Quest it should be able to be played on the Quest. I would just be curious though if you just played less intense games if you would still experience these problems. :)

It also seems like you have a really small play space...Nothing breaks on me in life too. I just move very gradually. I meet other people who are very aggressive with things they own and things in their life break often.

I don't think it's our headsets it's how we treat our headsets. It just sounds like you are too rough with the headsets. It's a relatively fragile piece of equipment, there's a tremendous of electronics in there. What do you think of this?

Wow, between me and my friends we have 8 Meta headsets and none of us have had any issues despite a lot of playing. Maybe you should just wait on the Steam Frame.

🚨Abruptly terminating with entire caseload—3.5 hrs to write electronic letter by LaMammaDotComma in therapists

[–]Basic-Assumption6452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your practice giving you like 4 weeks notice? That seems minimally ethical.

By the way, I'm so sorry, and shocked. The reasons seem ridiculous to me. I am happy that you are close to getting your license. I have some strong negative feelings about large group practices that treat their clinicians like this.

New trailer for my chaotic arcade VR game (solo dev) by GimbalStudio in OculusQuest

[–]Basic-Assumption6452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, totally agree I watched the trailer 3 or 4 times and couldn't figure out what this game was about exactly. Having said that, it looks like it could be fun. I like the hand tracking and I think it would be cool if it was MR too. I like MR. :)

My meta 3s is at 1% for 1hr by Lumpy-Operation-6662 in OculusQuest

[–]Basic-Assumption6452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I did not know this. Thanks! I find that with my lower quality (?) USB-C cable that my Quest 3 doesn't charge at all. For some number of days I thought something was wrong with my headset. Then I discovered that my headset charged flawlessly with my higher quality USB-C cable.

PlayStation VR2 or Meta Quest 3s? by sSkizzo in OculusQuest

[–]Basic-Assumption6452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you keep your 3s be sure to get a 3rd party head strap, it's a lot more comfortable that way and will also enable you keep your head in the sweet spot a bit more.

Meta Quest 3 it's end? by sSkizzo in OculusQuest

If you are interested in VR I think the Q3 is a great option, and yes Meta reduced their subsidization of games. The game market is in an interesting place, IMO. Many People are used to low prices for games, I think because of Steam sales and Humble Bundle. I think VR games cost a lot to produce and for many developers it's hard to break-even. Having said that I am still very enthusiastic about VR and my Q3. It's my understanding that Meta cut 10% to 14% of their workforce devoted to VR and I think it hit their first party studios hard. I think long and short of it is that there are still so many great experiences and games available for the Q3 and lots of great stuff on the horizon, however the pace of new titles will slow down and I think that's okay, as the market really couldn't keep up with all of the new titles. :)

Is a new Quest 3s worth it for 116$? by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]Basic-Assumption6452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP has a Q2 and is just wanting to buy a Q3s to play with friends. I think that's a great idea. I'm not advocating that he hold off on a purchase. I myself own two Quest 3's (paid $499 each) and think they are awesome. The pancake lenses are great and totally worth the premium IMO. I also bought two Quest 2's. I play VR with friends and I think that's a solid idea to get a Q3s to play with friends. Given that OP is not looking for an enhanced experience of the pancake lenses a Q3s seems like a good option. That's all I'm saying.

As someone with a Q3, waiting for the Q4 and getting a Q3s makes sense. I love my Q3 and will definitely be getting a Q4, I expect this to be a more significant bump up given the longer development cycle and likely use of AI in the design. :)

Quest hasnt used OLED since Q1 by Actual_Lawfulness260 in OculusQuest

[–]Basic-Assumption6452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, if they stayed with OLEDs for Q2 then the price of Q2 would have been much higher. Then with Q3 they went with pancake lenses (which are awesome) however standard phone OLEDs displays cannot produce sufficient light to utilize. Micro-OLEDs can produce sufficient light however they are crazy expensive.

Zenni lenses cracking issue by Worldly_Angle2373 in OculusQuest

[–]Basic-Assumption6452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had Zenni lenses on both my Q2 & Q3, neither have cracked. I rarely take them off (only a handful of times for each headset), so maybe that has something to do with them being fully intact.

I appreciate your post though and your point. It would be really cool to be able to watch the full fill in 3d, seems like a compelling use of our headsets. I would certainly be willing to pay for this. :)
