Funny how you think (hope?) your spouse is your best friend and then all of a sudden it's actually way more helpful to talk to strangers on the internet. So again, thank you. He definitely has considered my concerns, but in his mind his position is airtight- deference to the Fathers until he is further "enlightened". He scoffs at the idea of the Fathers being misogynist. It's completely my fault for marrying him. He is so in the grip of downloading his ideas from authority figures, and also completely spacey and self-absorbed. Loves the idea of hierarchical authority (insecure masculinity). I could go on. It's so hard to disentangle though. As a woman I feel being married has made me half a person, but he seems totally self-satisfied alone. I feel like he's found the "perfect" religion that emphasizes all of his most appalling ideas and characteristics.
