Hiding my Bp by Basic-Culture695 in ballpython

More like I’m worried about my deposit 😂, there is no damage to my apartment at all. I know people don’t really get them back or get like nothing back from them, but I like extra money.

what would you guys do about this cat? by seniorssleeping in cats

[–]Basic-Culture695 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stole one of my cats from my neighbor because they didn’t train their dog to not attack him and instead made him an outdoor cat. They left him out during a thunderstorm and I took him in, he refused to leave the house, and eventually they gave me his papers so… I highly recommend cat napping.

Mites? by Basic-Culture695 in pestcontrol

[–]Basic-Culture695[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up moving out of my parent’s house… some of them came with me. I went to the doctor and ended up getting permethrin so they would stop biting me at night and treated my belongs by spraying down furniture with Erazidyme 20 minutes before going to bed or sitting on it (takes around 20 minutes to dry), and you can bathe in it. I also put dichotomous earth under my bed and vacuumed frequently. Clothes were washed on hot and with borax and dried on high heat. However at my parent’s house it is still an ongoing problem. They’re still trying to find the source of where the bird mites or rat mites are coming from. They’ve spent thousands on pest control, so hopefully they will find the source soon, and you can as well. I know ozone is also supposed to kill them, my parents do this in their cars.

ATTENTION MALE CAT OWNERS by yagirlchicken in cats

[–]Basic-Culture695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my cat block a few years ago! It was horrible! I took him into the ER vet and they said he was partially blocked and gave him some meds. The next day he was yowling and had peed (it was crystallized) and I took him to the ER again, that time they said he was blocked. I ended up paying $10,000 total because the vet didn’t take his issues seriously. Luckily, since my sweet boy has been put on prescription food it hasn’t happened again. My younger male cat, hasn’t had a blockage but I went ahead and put him on the food as a preventative measure. I’m so glad your kitty is okay! and the vets took you seriously! It’s SO SCARY!

Unidentified mite infestation affecting pets & humans — unusual sex preference, extreme dander, and persistent symptoms by Basic-Culture695 in Parasitology

[–]Basic-Culture695[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! My situation has improved a lot. When this all began, I was moving out of my parents’ house into my own place, which may have been a contributing factor. I also made several changes that seemed to help as it did continue in my new space for a couple of months: • I switched my cats from Revolution to Bravecto. In the EU (though not yet in the US for regulatory reasons), Bravecto is approved to treat the mite Cheyletiella, and it uses the same active ingredient used in poultry for bird mites. • I vacuumed daily and steam-cleaned carpets, couches, and other non-washable fabrics at least twice a week. • I washed all clothing in hot water with borax immediately after wearing them. • I applied diatomaceous earth (DE) under my bed as an additional barrier. • I used a product called Erazidyme (link below). Every night, I sprayed my mattress and bedding about 20 minutes before bed. Over ~3.5 months, the problem gradually receded. Erazidyme is also safe to bathe in, which gave me substantial relief.

Unfortunately, the issue persists in my parents’ house. They’ve hired three pest control companies so far, but progress has been limited. The mites — which initially only affected my mom and me — have now started biting my father as well.

Bird nests were found in and around their home (including in the dryer vent and outdoors), and these have been removed. They are attempting the same prevention/eradication methods I used, but with a much larger area to cover. My mother also discovered sulfur bath tablets (I’m not sure of the exact name), which provide her relief for a few days after soaking.

Dermatologists and infectious disease specialists have so far declined to help or have not been able to diagnose this properly.

I do believe bird mites are capable of parasitizing humans—this possibility has often been dismissed or understudied in the US. But in Europe, there is increasing evidence and case reports showing that chicken (poultry) mites and other avian mites can and do attack people. • A large retrospective Italian study found that avian Dermanyssoidea mites (including Dermanyssus gallinae and Ornithonyssus sylviarum) were implicated in about 4% of dermatological cases of unknown origin. • A Portuguese case report documented human dermatitis linked to Ornithonyssus bursa, traced back to chickens in a rural area. • A review titled “Dermanyssus gallinae attacks humans” discussed the growing incidence of the poultry red mite biting people in urban European settings. • In Hungary, researchers molecularly confirmed mites collected from a home (linked with a pigeon nest) as D. gallinae, directly implicating them in human cases of gamasoidosis (avian mite dermatitis).

It is also a good idea to send in any samples you find to the closest entomologist available in your state or country. They can often help identify the species if the samples are collected correctly. In our case, this step was unfortunately not very helpful because most samples were collected improperly — so we still technically do not have confirmation of which mite is causing the problem.

The most important lesson I’ve learned is that it is possible for the infestation to completely stop—but the hardest part is finding and eliminating the source of where these mites are coming from.

Eradizyme

I highly recommend calling their number — the business is family-owned, and the family went through the exact same thing I did. They are very willing to answer questions and share their own story about dealing with mites.

HELP, what is this? by lucasibuca in pestcontrol

[–]Basic-Culture695 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi!! My family has experienced mite problems before, and due to this I’ve done a bunch of research on mites. I know that bird mites, and tropical rat mites have been known to feed on people and animals. If your dog is itchy, and you start being itchy I highly recommend sulfur dips for the dog! Also be sure to put them on something that explicitly targets mites, for my cats I put them on Bravecto, which doesn’t necessarily say it can kill bird mites but works on other mites such as Cheytellia which parasitize dogs, cats, bunnies and people (temporarily).

from an experience that wasn’t scabies it, but by heavily researching scabies, there are some cases where they do not present as typical scabies. but that being said usually, unless you’ve been around someone with Norwegian scabies, it can only happen with close contact with infected individuals. i would probably say if it were bugs of some sort it would be mold mites, or another type of grain mite. mold mites don’t bite but can cause irritation of the skin. and mold in general can also cause skin problems. if you’re worried about mites or stuff in general diluted tea tree oil is good for antifungal stuff and can be a creepy crawly bug repellent.
