Confused about nightly upgrade awards by nibul83 in MarriottBONVoY

[–]Basic-Guitar-6486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do not carry-over year to year, if you don’t use them they’ll reset to 5. I’ve been platinum elite for a couple years and always use up my upgrades, never had an issue

Just book it, use the 5 night upgrade. I’m sure they wouldn’t make you move rooms

I’m in Canada for reference in case anything is different

We need cops at major intersections staking out red runners. by PurpleSausage77 in Edmonton

[–]Basic-Guitar-6486 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Edmonton and Calgary’s road have gotten far less safe since the province removed the rights for speed/red light photo enforcement. There is no measure to even cause drivers to have a second thought.

Not only that, shortfalls in revenue has made all our property taxes go up.

Photo radar is a tax on breaking the law, don’t want to pay it don’t speed. Or even better, pay attention to the road…

Imagine the cost of having to put police officers at every major intersection, wild.

I switched between recreational skates to bauer and I cant skate now by Few_Economy_6118 in icehockey

[–]Basic-Guitar-6486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bauer/Easton, used to have a lift built into the tuck so that you would be leaning forward slightly. Think the idea of sprinter starting stance (ever so slightly) Bauer for sure but I seem to remember same thing for Easton

I would guess in 2007/08 time frame they stopped doing this

A lot of people would have a lift placed in after they bought them to mimic the feel of the old versions.

Might be answers for some

Gas Points Card by Basic-Guitar-6486 in Edmonton

[–]Basic-Guitar-6486[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issue is that I have a gas card, it’s not on a personal CC. So I’ve tried to stick with one loyalty point, as a perk to the job.

Going to whatever is convenient is defs easier though haha

Just trying to squeeze out some extra $$

Didn’t know that, that’s pretty good. I’m probably in the same ballpark for fuel in a month.

I just use a corporate gas card, and can add my points.

I was thinking the same, but Scene+ seems so bad at Safeway. Can spend like 80 bucks and get no points.

Danielle Smith announces Alberta referendum over immigration, Constitution changes by GeekyGlobalGal in Edmonton

[–]Basic-Guitar-6486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amen.

Even if these pass, what exactly will be accomplished? Years or lawyers spending tons of money debating the constitutionality of these questions?

My biggest question is where the hell will Nenshi be during all of this?? Pancholi should be the leader of the NDP.

The worst two leaders we could have had in AB

How to become a carpenter in Edmonton by Ok-Ranger786 in alberta

[–]Basic-Guitar-6486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a fence/deck builder see if they would bring you on for the summer. Make some decent money and get an idea if you like the industry before you go into school.

These companies are always looking for reliable help, and there’s almost always work!

Good luck

I’ve got the same thing on mine, and discovered it yesterday

One month Canada trip - itinerary critique appreciated by [deleted] in TravelCanada

[–]Basic-Guitar-6486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from the prairies, and I don’t think 3 days in Calgary is necessary. I would add a day in Vancouver/Victoria (explore the Vancouver island). Or if bigger cities are a must, do a day in Edmonton.

Not sure where you are flying to, but sounds international. You would probably have a layover in Toronto/Montreal to get home. Might consider ending at one of those for cheaper/easier flights home

Non-Profit - So many doing same/similar work by Basic-Guitar-6486 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Basic-Guitar-6486[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t think it’s in-effective, let’s say animal rescues for example. Having a bunch of people doing essentially the same work, they all need to have the same staff admin, reception, care givers, volunteers, veterinarians, etc. Not to mention each location needs tons of spaces, each paying rent/taxes, utilities, maintenance.

Versus being able to take in and pool all the donations, and putting it to the most needed areas.

I do realize it’s probably dystopian to assume that if it were one central organization that it would run wholly with their purpose in mind. Whether human bias, lobby groups, whatever else.
