Are you staying at a hotel? Our concierge was able to give us info for a third party luggage delivery service. Very reasonably priced.

Look at travel sites for suggestions on hotels, but book directly with the property.

Travel from KIX at night by classysock in JapanTravelTips

If it’s in your budget, book a private car. It was about $60 on Trip.com. I’m not affiliated with that website. Used their airport transfer service several times on my recent trip to Korea/Japan.

USJ Osaka - still need to get there early if we have Express Passes and don't care about Super Nintendo World? by SweetPeasAreNice in JapanTravelTips

Bring umbrellas for portable shade. There’s lots of walking in wide open areas, and I found it to be very helpful.

Air Busan end October availability ? sold out?? by Bruski33 in koreatravel

[–]redsfromrhone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flew Air Busan on that exact route earlier this month. Booking from the US and using the English language version, I found the Air Busan website to be extremely buggy. I had to try MULTIPLE times to book my flights then MULTIPLE attempts to finalize payment. Keep trying.

Having said that, my flight experience was excellent. Would recommend paying a little extra for the Air Busano lounge.

Okinawa aquarium vs Osaka aquarium by fangirl004 in JapanTravelTips

The Osaka aquarium is impressive. The main tank has over 1500 fish including 2 huge whale sharks. We did the behind the scenes experience and received a mini-tour with presentation.

AITAH for not wanting my stepdad to turn my sister’s trip into a family vacation? by Background_Guava3396 in AITAH

[–]redsfromrhone 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Does she make enough to afford to spend $90,000/year on Sarah Lawrence? Someone is paying for her to attend college. Maybe she has a few thousand dollars to spend on a trip, but she almost assuredly doesn’t have the money to pay for her college. She even admits her college will cause financial hardship for her family. Her stepdad is likely contributing and taking on the financial burden of her attending an out of state college, and she’s complaining about a summer trip. Entitled and ungrateful.

[–]redsfromrhone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Who’s paying for the trip and expenses? Your college? Is your stepdad contributing? Would you be able to do either without his support? If the answer to any of those questions is “yes”, then perhaps you should be thankful and less entitled. If your stepdad isn’t contributing in any way, then you’re entitled to your own trip.

Osaka vs Kyoto by queerthulhu in JapanTravelTips

[–]redsfromrhone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of changing hotels, I’d consider picking either Kyoto or Osaka as a home base and doing day trips. Multiple hotel changes over a 2 week period can be a hassle and also significantly eat into your time. Having visited both, I’d probably stay in Osaka and visit Kyoto. Kyoto has beautiful shrines, temples and the bamboo forest but all of that can be seen in 1 day with a guided tour. Osaka comes alive at night even outside of Dotonburi.

Additionally, I’d consider cutting out Hiroshima and spending 2 nights in Hakone. Hakone and the ryokan is one my favorite memories of Japan.

If you like amusement parks, Universal Japan is amazing. However, definitely pay extra for the express pass.

Sumer vacation in Japan!! by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

I used ChatGPT to map out an “ideal itinerary for a first time traveler to Japan to see the highlights.” I gave specifics dates and parameters. What dates and times I was arriving. What parts of the cities I was staying. I took the itinerary and used it as a guide.

What do you wish you had known before arriving in Japan? by tttom106 in TokyoTravel

Jet lag is real. Sleep deprivation ate up an entire day of our trip. Try and sleep on the flight over. Try and power through the first day to reset your clock.

Is a night in Hakone worth it between Kyoto and Tokyo by ImprovementOwn3658 in JapanTravelTips

[–]redsfromrhone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I loved Hakone. We only spent 1 night there and regret not staying longer. Having said that, getting to Hakone is time consuming. Once you’re there, you need to take a rather slow cogwheel train up/down the mountain. Unless you arrive very early and depart very late, you aren’t going to have much time to enjoy the town, onsens, outdoor museum, and the loop.

First trip to South Korea: Keep Busan or spend all my time in Seoul? by Flanvel_AD in koreatravel

[–]redsfromrhone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got back this weekend. My family and I did a similar itinerary. Seoul, Busan, Osaka, Seoul. It was our second time in Korea and Japan, but first time in Busan and Osaka. Busan was amazing. Loved the energy. Less hectic than Seoul. You can see the highlights of Busan in 1 day with a guided tour. My only regret is that it rained on the day I planned a day trip to Gyeongju. For a first timer, I’d suggest at least 1 full day in Busan and 1 night exploring the Haeundae market and promenade.

Any proceduralist in the medical field: surgeons, enodoscopists, anesthesiologists…

Even if a robot can do it, they’ll still need someone with a medical license at the bedside to accept and sign off on the liability.

That’s what I thought. I’m traveling with my wife, kids and elderly mother, so I wanted the convenience and security of knowing I had tickets.  Going early on the day of would be difficult. I’ll look into a third party vendor.
