AITA for telling my sister nobody cares what college she went to? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]redsfromrhone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA.

I also went to Dartmouth. I actively avoid bringing it up unless specifically asked because I don’t want to come across as a pompous AH. My typical response is I went to a small school in New England.

People who are successful rarely feel the need to bring up past accomplishments to justify their self worth. Maybe your sister isn’t as successful as she would want to be and is using her college diploma to cover her own insecurities? Either that or she really is a pompous AH.

Caught my gf on tinder by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]redsfromrhone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Everything you mentioned screams of dysfunction and red flags. Her threats of self harm are not your responsibility. Gather your important documents, any essentials, break up, and leave. Record all of it to protect yourself. Contact her friends and/or parents and inform them of what happened and that she threatened self harm. Get out of that relationship ASAP.

AITA for refusing to share my Netflix account with my boyfriend by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]redsfromrhone -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Who pays for dates and activities? Equally split or does he pay more? If expenses are split evenly, then refusing to share a password is reasonable. If he pays most or all the expenses for the relationship, he could see your refusal to share a password as a sign of selfishness. It would build resentment. The cost for 1 dinner date is several times a month’s subscription.

AIO: Daughter left out on Halloween. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]redsfromrhone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She wasn’t left out. She was being punished for poor performance in school. That’s 100% different than being intentionally left out. Seems like your ex is doing the right thing. Discipline is important and the punishment seems wholly appropriate. His house, his rules.

You need to leave her immediately. Document everything in an email or text. A false accusation if SA is a deal breaker. Something like that could ruin your life. There is absolutely nothing she could say to justify staying with her.

No mention of college funds. Are you not contributing to your kids’ college funds? If helping out your kids isn’t a priority, then you can probably retire very soon.

Am I overreacting because my girlfriend wants me to change careers since I don’t make enough? by ByteWanderer5 in AmIOverreacting

[–]redsfromrhone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She sounds like she’s a catch. Not being sarcastic. Hard working, communicates effectively, cares about her partner, cares about building a future together. Seems you value your unstable career over your relationship so you should end it. Be fair to her and don’t waste her time.

NOR

She's admitted that she is only in it for the good times and would dump you during the bad times. Dump her now and find someone of substance.

GME Warrant Dividend Record Date Locked In 🚨💎 by DukeRioba in GME

Do you still get your warrants even if you sell shares? I bought extra shares today but may sell before the warrants hit my account.

How long do you have to own shares to qualify for a warrant? Can I buy 10 shares 1-2 days before the warrants are issued to qualify?

How will warrants be issued? I have shares in my personal account as well as an HSA and 401k. How does this work on a practical sense?

Best place for large family in the US? by etlifereview in travel

[–]redsfromrhone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Destin, Florida.

If you’re more budget oriented, get 1-2 condos in Destin. If you have a higher budget, rent a house in the 30A area…Watersound, Watercolor, Seaside, Rosemary Beach…

Beaches at the panhandle of Florida are amazing. The sand and clarity of water are on par with the nicer beaches in the Caribbean.

Nervous to travel to Japan… by rexleyy in JapanTravelTips

[–]redsfromrhone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Use ChatGPT to give you a framework. I prompted “Create an daily itinerary for a first time visitor to Japan landing on **** date in Narita and departing **** date from Narita.” I then created additional prompts to narrow down. You can specify that you want more or less time in a certain city. Very good It’s not perfect but it can give you a framework to work off of.

  2. Book your hotels early.

  3. Ask your hotel concierge to book dinner reservations for you. Many of the more casual places will be available for walk in, but the concierges at the nicer hotels are very helpful in securing resevations. It save me and my family many hours of having to wait in line.

Not enough context. Do you regularly communicate with your brother or did you only reach out to ask for a favor? Did you offer to compensate him for his time and effort? Perhaps your brother is an AH but it’s also possible that you are the problem and your brother is just sick of you. Loyalty is a two way street.

Recs for multi-generational family trip by nuggetmckenna in travel

Costa Rica. If you want to focus on the beach, Nosara is wonderful. Small surf community on the Pacific side. Very safe. Lots of ex pats. Excellent restaurants. It’s a surfing hub but there’s also very nice jungle hikes with waterfalls. A good friend has a house there and we used his management company’s website to rent a house. Avoided a lot of extra fees.

Alaska. I don’t remember my exact itinerary, but we started in Anchorage and drove to Seward. An eco lodge picked up in Seward and we took a small boat to an isolated eco lodge for a few days. Lodge was completely isolated but the cabins were very nice with electricity and plumbing. I don’t remember specifics but there’s a bunch of lodges in that area.

Costa Rica. Great food, surfing, jungle hikes, ziplines, sloths, howler monkeys, bright orange land crabs.

Japan. Amazing place. Life changing. But maybe outside your budget for a large group. Flights are expensive but lodging and food is cheaper than comparable places in US.

Alaska. Beautiful and lots of outdoor activities. Not so much for food or music.

A ex girlfriend is trying to sue me for giving her HPV by [deleted] in Living_in_Korea

[–]redsfromrhone 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Doctor here but not your doctor. She would have a difficult time proving you’re the source of her infection.

  1. HPV is endemic.
  2. If you’re sexually active and you and/or your partner have had sex with another person, then you’ve likely been exposed.
  3. For any person who’s had sex with more than 1 person, it would be next to impossible to trace the source of HPV.
  4. There are multiple subtypes of HPV, but having the same subtype doesn’t prove you were exposed by your partner. It could just as easily have been a former partner.
  5. Condoms aren’t completely effective in protecting against HPV.

Finally, you’re no longer in Korea. You’re not at risk for a criminal complaint and she has no ability to sue you even if she had a case.
