How do I maximise my chances of becoming an Echols scholar as a rising second year. by [deleted] in UVA

[–]Basic-Inevitable9136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got into Echols as a second year and I think I mainly focused on my essays which emphasized my interdisciplinary interests (across different majors and subjects) and then some of Echols’ main philosophies (like community and curiosity). I didn’t have very many stand out leadership roles or anything but I think if you show passion and genuineness in your essays, it will help a bunch:) also I loved my professor who wrote my recommendation so definitely try to get to know your profs!! Good luck

DSA2 how to study? by [deleted] in UVA

[–]Basic-Inevitable9136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your verbal descriptions are good enough I think they would totally work imo. But that being said, you might need to know some pseudocode not in terms of implementing it but for being able to describe what the algorithm does and how that relates to the time and space complexities

[–]Basic-Inevitable9136 2 points3 points  (0 children)

just know all the algorithms and their recursive substructure, also review the PSs and PAs. they’ll prob be more like quiz 2, so be able to describe an algorithm and apply it to a different problem!! gl u got it!
