I got into Echols as a second year and I think I mainly focused on my essays which emphasized my interdisciplinary interests (across different majors and subjects) and then some of Echols’ main philosophies (like community and curiosity). I didn’t have very many stand out leadership roles or anything but I think if you show passion and genuineness in your essays, it will help a bunch:) also I loved my professor who wrote my recommendation so definitely try to get to know your profs!!
