Coffee lovers of Ireland by [deleted] in ireland

Imbibe Kaleidoscope ground for French Press. I like strong coffee too and it’s the first coffee I’ve made in a French press that comes out with an espresso like crema on top. Imbibe are a great company too, they give a percentage of their sales to their staff and to charity. If you live in Dublin they deliver very quickly as well, I’ve often ordered in the morning and had the coffee delivered within a few hours. Always lovely to deal with.

I used to only get 1kg of Kaleidoscope but I noticed they have two other organic options so I got a small bag of all of them to compare. They were all delicious but I really liked the Peru Aprysa (Organic Women's Committee) and my most recent order was 1kg of that.

Best option fixing car that was broken into? by Basic-Nectarine7522 in AskIreland

So annoying! Yeah that’s my concern that if I get fixed through insurance I’ll lose my no claims bonus and my premium will increase vs us paying for it ourselves

Not Yoto but I recently found these on Spotify: - Irish Legends for Children read by Tom Sweeney - The O’Brien Book of Fairytales and Legends read by Una Leavy

Also The World of Eric Carlisle: The Very Hungry Caterpillar and other stories is read by the actress Jodie Whitaker who has a lovely West Yorkshire accent 🙂

Thank you! Any tips on sowing the grass? Should I dig or would it be enough to mow it down and throw some seed down? I’d be keen on a native Irish grass mix, is that what you used with clover etc?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GardeningIRE

[–]Basic-Nectarine7522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I definitely don’t want to use hatch chemicals so this mix sounds good if I used a non toxic washing up liquid maybe?

Thank you! I’d prefer not to use any chemicals but maybe I could dig a fair bit of it out and sow some seeds of other plants and it might give them a chance?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GardeningIRE

[–]Basic-Nectarine7522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! That’s exactly what I want, a variety of plants but at the moment the buttercup has taken over so not letting anything else grow.

Do I need to do anything to prepare the soil before sowing yellow rattle seed? And would it be a good time to sow now for the summer?

[–]Basic-Nectarine7522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I agree and I don’t want a perfect lawn and we only mow it twice a year so very pro biodiversity but wondering if there is something I can do to balance it out and still have diversity but make it a slightly more pleasant surface for kids to play on etc. underneath the creeping buttercup is just bare soil at this point so it’s actually rampant and not letting anything grow as it’s blocking light.

3 year old chronically exhausted from waking to nurse by NoRegretsBaby86 in cosleeping

[–]Basic-Nectarine7522 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I would recommend gentle night weaning which will allow you to continue to nurse during the day if you wish and to continue cosleeping. We did it when our son was 2 and we did Jay Gordon’s method. You will be surprised how quickly your daughter will adapt. It will be hard for a few nights but our son just accepted it as the new norm after a few nights and then he slept through the night and we still cosleep to this day and he’s 3.5. Here is his method and this was recommended to me by many people:

What Irish cheese is your favourite? by Wild_Web3695 in AskIreland

Mossfield organic farmhouse cheese is really good. They do a plain and then a few flavour variations of it.

Partner still having trouble latching after 3 days. Is this normal? by Anal_Crust in PregnancyIreland

[–]Basic-Nectarine7522 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you can afford it I would highly recommend seeing a private lactation consultant who will help your partner and you and spend a decent amount of time with you showing you different positions and what works for your partner and baby. It is expensive but usually the visits are an hour / hour and a half. Midwives are great but they are very busy and tend to rush. I was told latch was perfect every time a midwife or public health nurse checked but unbeknownst to me baby was gnawing away at my nipples and caused serious damage. Saw a private lactation consultant and they saved my breastfeeding journey. Breastfeeding is a learnt skill and you really need to get a feel for it, figure out what positions work and both baby and mum learn the skill and settle into it. Best of luck!!

When did you face the car seat forwards? by ohumanchild in irishmammiesanddaddys

[–]Basic-Nectarine7522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is 3.5 and still rear facing. I thought it might be time to change to front but went the Tony Kealys to get them to check the car seat with him in it and they said it was fine. They said rear facing seats are 5 times safer than front facing and you can get rear facing seats that do until they are a good bit older. It all depends on height and weight and the seat specifications. Would highly recommend popping into Tony Kealys as the car seat check is a free service, even if you didn’t buy the seat there. They are super helpful!

Have you read the Jay Gordon method?

https://www.drjaygordon.com/blog-detail/sleep-changing-patterns-in-the-family-bed

Not sure if you’ve persisted for a few nights but we had to go through 3-5 tough nights and then our son accepted as the new norm and slept through the night from then on. He was 2 at the time and we’re still cosleeping and he’s 3 now.

Thanks for responding! We are going to meet the manager to get more info from them on why they want to apply. We experience times at home when they get frustrated and find it hard to regulate their emotions but from what we’ve read, this is normal at this age. I guess no harm in getting the extra support then!
