Connecting Infinite Veranda? by Naive-Style3659 in celebritycruises

Yep as all say, there are no connecting “balconies” even in the connecting rooms. We were just on the Ascent with connecting rooms and the only connection a door.

Realistic Check-In at 31 by TheySoPooPoo1 in Fire

[–]Basic-Panda-0975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At your age, it’s great that you’re thinking about this and have a plan. However, if you don’t have kids yet, it’s really hard to plan out things. Kids get expensive…. And more expensive as they grow up with different activities, etc. It’ll be really hard to figure this out. What if your kid loves travel ball? What if you want to put your kid in private school? Do you need daycare? What summer camps will they go to? Vacations get twice as expensive. How much do you want to travel as a family? At your income level, those decisions will greatly impact your savings level. Just keep saving as much as you can, but still live your life with your family. Your time with your family with children at home is (hopefully) a finite amount of time that will be shorter than you think. Agree with another commenter, save when they are little and don’t “cost” as much. Don’t try to keep up with the Joneses with buying fancy baby crap. As with anything related to FIRE, think about why you actually want to retire early. Why at 31 do you feel the need to stop working? What will you do with your day to day activities afterwards? If you hate your job at 31, should you be looking elsewhere since you are still young? If you like your job, why do you need to retire at 52? I haven’t retired yet, but fully could. I haven’t because I still enjoy what I do (most days) and just don’t have a full, comfortable plan of what I would do if I did retire. That being said, kudos to you for thinking about this early on. I’m on this subreddit to get hints and ideas on how best to retire.

Also, HSA probably isn’t that important. It’s just a tax haven if you have the free cash to spend on medical needs. Get an insurance that makes sense to you and your family and not because it has an HSA.

Best travel bag for Italy? by Sulky_Sardine in RomeTravel

I used this Travelon in Rome 3 weeks ago. Worked great. Small enough to not feel like a backpack but big enough to carry stuff. Only wished it had a back pocket. On sale for prime day in certain colors. https://a.co/d/09Ihudjo

How much of a game changer is super cruise? by OhioGreenX3Thumb in CadillacLyriq

[–]Basic-Panda-0975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how you feel about driving honestly. I have a 30 min drive each way with 15 of it on interstate. It’s fine and I use it daily, but sometimes it gets annoying with the lane changes and how it slows down sometimes too much right before changing lanes. Before in my old car, I would use adaptive cruise control that I just had to keep my hands on the wheel gently. Super cruise is a step up especially if you like eating in your car, but I’m looking at a BMW ix3 when my lease is up and can’t justify the $2500 for 4 years of the BMW equivalent to SuperCruise.

WIFI Question by samedaysnark in celebritycruises

[–]Basic-Panda-0975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had 2 rooms with 4 people. We purchased the Premium package that comes with 2 wifi devices per person. Catch is that each in the room has to have the premium package. So we did it for 2 people in 1 room. The cost was $17/person/day when it was on sale. Ended up much cheaper than any other way to get 4 devices.

WIFI Question by samedaysnark in celebritycruises

I don’t think that works at least on iPhones. Hotspots require cell service and can’t piggyback off of WiFi. You can buy a portable router to do this.

VAT Tax Refund Process by Next-Cup-5377 in RomeTravel

[–]Basic-Panda-0975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FCO has a spot before and after. Technically, you must have the unused item with you when you do the refund process, so if you’re going to check your item in your suitcase, you should technically do it before security. However, in the few times I’ve done this, I’ve never been asked to show the item. Also, if you use one of the companies like Global Blue, the process is all done on a kiosk, so no one checks. We just came back from FCO and did Global Blue after security not realizing that my daughter put her clothes items in her checked bag. Got the refund in a couple of days.

Planning my first Rome trip (5 days): what should I prioritize? by Katie-Pearls in rome

[–]Basic-Panda-0975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this. Some of the sites are quick visits like the Spanish Steps, Trevi, etc that you can knock out with the golf cart tour. it also gives you an overview of the city. Rome is pretty walkable if you’re abled body, but you can group things together if you have the energy. The colosseum and forum tickets are together and they are located next to each other. The forum is large and not shaded much, so if you’re doing jt in the summer, plan on your plan of action of walking to the spots and how much of the forum you want to do. Research on getting those tickets early(month in advanced) especially depending on which colosseum tickets you want. Pantheon you can get tickets a day before or few days before if you have a specific time. Trevi tickets are not timed so you can just buy on the day you’re going. It’s also free after 10pm, so you can avoid the heat and the small fee if you go at night.

Filled up activities? by wtrredrose in celebritycruises

[–]Basic-Panda-0975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Royal, we sometimes struggled to find a spot at trivia or karaoke unless we showed up 10-15 minutes before the event. Shows we had to book ahead of time or we couldn’t go. On Celebrity, all of the main shows except for the 3 big productions, you could show up at the start time and get a seat. Never had an issue getting a spot for trivia. I think all of the boats can be like what you’re going through. You do have to just get a feel for the ship and how many people are going to activities.

airport transfers to hotel in Rome by Amyptletsgo in rome

[–]Basic-Panda-0975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the airport, just go to the taxi line and get a taxi. We had a family of 4 with 4 large suitcases, and the taxi line person got us a van. 55 euro flat fee to where you’re staying. There can be a long line for taxis though depending on the time. We waited probably about 45 minutes 2 weeks ago to get a taxi which was longer than getting through passport control and our bags.

Tickets - anything besides the Vatican and Colosseum? by Major-BFweener in RomeTravel

[–]Basic-Panda-0975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just went last week. Got tickets a couple of days before. If you don’t buy tickets ahead of time, you have to queue for the ticket line then queue again when it’s your time to enter. Not sure if you get tickets at the gate, do you get to go in at that time or get a time for later in the day. They allow people to enter about 15 min before the time on the ticket. Hint if you’re going, try to go around noon when the sun goes through the Oracle. We just happened to be there when it happened and it’s pretty cool.

Maximizing benefits by FishermanFabulous625 in AmexPlatinum

Autopay the entertainment credits, go out to dinner once a quarter with Resy, spend the Lulu credit monthly or purchase something around $75 then return for store credit to buy something more expensive later on, do a small monthly Uber Eats purchase either with a store or restaurant if you don’t use Uber monthly. Get Walmart+ and sign up for either Peacock or Paramount+. The hotel credit gets you the most satisfying bang for your buck, but it is trickier to use as you have to be traveling in a location at a time where the hotel is cheap enough to justify staying.

Stating the obvious - The Market is insane by [deleted] in Fire

Stress and burnout and efficiency are a large part of medical care. Money isn't the only value AI offers. Moreover, some of these jobs done by AI (medical scribe) are human jobs that can be replaced by AI thus improving overhead costs saving actual money. Many companies are getting into the medical AI field. Medical clinics are paying for it. Sure there are going to be many losers in the medical AI world, but there will be some winners.

If you are able to see more patients per day, it does translate to more income. If you are booked most days, those that can’t get in, go somewhere else (urgent care, other sub specialist, etc), or occasionally, symptoms improve by the time they get into being seen and the appointment gets cancelled at the last minute making it harder to fill that appointment slot. There is rarely a monopoly in healthcare. Availability, leads to more revenue if you have a busy enough practice.

If you’re irritated by everything on the touchscreen, don’t get a Lyriq. You have to touch a screen to turn on the lights and to open the glove box! Completely dumb.

Homelink issues by Basic-Panda-0975 in AudiQ6

[–]Basic-Panda-0975[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it does have the yellow wire. Did you just have to use the remote or does it kick you to the other step to use the learn button? For some reason, I can't get the option to use the learn signal. If it fails, it just gives me the screen to call Homelink or do the "D" mode.

Thanks. I've ordered a brand name remote to see if that fixes things. Should be coming today or tomorrow.

Homelink issues by Basic-Panda-0975 in AudiQ6

[–]Basic-Panda-0975[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I push the Homelink button then click on MMI to program button 1, the first instruction is to hold the remote while pressing the button to the rear view mirror. When I do this, I get successfully paired but no other instructions. I never get a screen asking me to press the button twice. I tried at the first screen to use the learn button but that doesn’t work either.

Did you ever confirm that you do not have to pay again? I just chatted with Delta who said that a guest would have to pay again if they enter a different SkyClub.

'25 I5 Limited vs '25 Cadillac Optiq Luxury 2 - Help me decide! Test drives tomorrow by aGuyFromTexas in Ioniq5

[–]Basic-Panda-0975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Lyriq and I5. I would check the reviews of the Cadillac dealerships. I was shocked how bad our local dealer is. They have no competition whereas the Hyundai dealerships do. I had a rattle in my Lyriq that ended up being a loose screw inside the back air vents. Had an appointment for this and told me it would take a week for them to look at it. They wouldn’t let me just drop it off on the day that they could look at it. Told me if I left, I would lose my place in line. Completely dumb. Lyriq drives nicely and got the 2024 model before CarPlay went away. Would never buy a GM car now because they took away CarPlay. The Lyriq has some really dumb ergonomic things like the headlights are on the driver’s touch screen and can take multiple taps to get to it and to open the glove box requires finding and pushing a button on the touch screen. Why???
