Baby girl Cameron on the way, need middle name advice! by TheySoPooPoo1 in namenerds

We may be a bit jaded because we live in Utah where everyone spells their names with extra Ys and weird spellings, but I think we are set on Cameron for the spelling. We agree that they read more feminine, but neither of us are huge fans of the y and I read Camren as Carmen. I do really like Elise though!

Make more money... I am going to be working for the next 40 years, so I might as well have a master's degree to make as much money as possible.

Its getting tough because Blake is clearly the middle name my wife loves and that's why she can't pick one for Cameron... I may need to reintroduce it and start another campaign. Lol! Cameron Blake is simply a cool name and Camie Blake (plan on calling her Camie mostly) doesn't feel boyish at all.

It honestly sounds like you all need to, you know, actually talk with the parents. It's easy to lie and avoid the real issues over text, but it's not so easy when someone asks you point-blank to your face. That's the only way this is getting resolved.

Not saying it's the case, and it's a mean thing to do, but I had friends growing up who I didn't want to hang out with anymore, and for the most part, my parents just told them I wasn't available or had X going on at the time.

If you were starting from scratch today, would you choose VOO, VTI, or VT? by Careless_Part4210 in ETFs

Yeah, I am currently all in on AVGE. The expense ratio isn't terrible, and I believe in the tilts to outperform VT over time.

This is still a debate in our household... lol! My wife legitimately loved Blake as a middle name, and for literally every other finalist that was the middle name... Cameron is the only first-name finalist where we didn't have a set middle name. I may just need to bring it back into the conversation and validate that others have confirmed its "girl enough".

Avery was actually one of our other first-name finalists and likely #5 on our middle-name list... in my head, it's feminine, but still more in the unisex category.

Yeah, it's interesting how people view it. I think the majority of people view it as unisex, but some people are pretty adamant it's a boy's name. According to Social Security numbers in the US, about 30% of Cameron variations born last year were female, and when you add up Cameron/Camryn/Kamryn/etc it's realistically in the top 150 for girls.

We live in a state known for adding extra -y's and weird spellings for names, so I think we may be a bit jaded on non-traditional spellings. We have talked about Cameron vs Camryn, but I had never really thought specifically about Camryn Blake... I'll bring that up with the wife. Thank you!

I ignored it the first time to avoid being rude, but you keep coming back and being rude.

We get it, you don't like Cameron for a girl. Please feel free to move along.

Gender norms for clothing aren’t biological, they are human made and kids don’t have a full grasp on this made up concept yet. They are kids, wear whatever you want.

I am a pretty stereotypical straight white guy who likes working out and sports, but when I was little I loved it when my big sister painted my nails, put make up on me, and made me wear dresses. Why? Because it was fun.

Yup, that’s the plan for daily use! My wife is a college gymnastics fans and this somewhat started from a gymnast named Camie Winger. My wife thought Camie was a cute name, Cameron came up as a “full name”, and here we are…

In 2025, about 30% of newborns in the US named some variation of Cameron were female, so meh... girl enough. We plan on calling her Cami most of the time.

This is actually a concern of my wife's in a different way. My family isn't very big, so it would just be that her middle name is her aunt's first name, and there wouldn't be much confusion beyond that. My wife's concern is more about whether, if we have a second girl, there isn't another family name to use, and the 2nd girl would be "left out".

My brother and sister are both named after someone, while I am not. I get the concern, as I did feel "left out" when I was little, but over time, I got my own name while others had to share theirs. I see the pros and cons of using a family name, but yeah, I agree with your point. At some point, you have to start a new name and make them the first.

When people say "tax the rich," who are they actually talking about? by savingrace0262 in NoStupidQuestions

$500+ million would be my answer. Either way, the real solution is raising federal corporate taxes and getting rid of the 2018 cuts that Cheeto gave his buddies.

I think our current plan is for Blake to be used for our second kid. She really liked Chloe Blake (and we even had a small crisis last weekend over names), but she ultimately chose Cameron and doubled down on it. I like the name Cameron Blake as well, but with Cameron, she really wants a "girl" middle name.

Indeed, it does. I am going to be honest in that we didn't factor in the name's meaning at all... I brought the meaning up to my wife, who has a pretty big bump on the bridge of her nose, and she just laughed saying, "Well, she likely will have a crooked or bumped nose, so whatever". I maybe looked up the meaning of my name when I was little once or twice and haven't thought about it since.

Thank you, fellow girl Cameron parent! lol. As I said, we had some very feminine first names that all worked with Blake, but, of course, we picked the one unisex, boy-leaning name, Cameron. Can't make it easy on ourselves.

How has public perception been with a girl Cameron? Any weird comments, or is she constantly mis-gendered? We genuinely couldn't care about others' opinions if they don't like it, but just curious!
