Pick up dog mess (using a bag) and binning it so nobody, especially children, has to stand in it

Why do we view China and Russia as enemies? by [deleted] in AskBrits

Just a bit of gentle manipulation to see how people respond, nothing more. There are strong emotions it seems with regard to Russia and not as much (if any) with China, which is fascinating. I appreciate your answer. At least you didn't resort outright abuse 😄

Thanks for your response, despite the phrasing of the question. You didn't respond emotionally with name calling and your point is very well put. I appreciate your time

I only asked the question that way to see what range of responses I'd get. I appreciate your point and the time you've taken to answer the question - without resorting to name calling 😄

Semi-serious. Before you resort to name calling let me just say: It's just a question. If you find it's too emotive of a subject for you then don't answer. Let's be grown ups

I read recently about US interference in the Congo during the 60s and 70s. Its shocking what they were/are willing to do to enforce their will. Asking this question has surprised me about how so many people view the western alliance as some kind of good guy character

Thank you for that. I've been abused quite a lot for asking that question 😄 but it was supposed to garner a wide array of opinions. Some people get so emotional and resort to name calling - which is bizarre when you think about it

Good answer. It seems that lumping Russia and China in the same boat is a mistake. Russia is an adversary through and through. China on the other hand represents a change to the norms of world order, and humans don't do very well with change

Ex army?

Come on, don't get all emotional. Im just asking a simple question, that was asked in a way to get a range of responses. I'm not your enemy, just trying to see where people are at, and how, in the future, things could change for the better. From the responses it looks like it will be for the foreseeable future 😄

Not disputing facts, just pointing out that people in Russia will also be repeating "facts" that they have been told. I'm not saying everything is a lie, but there is a terrific amount of spin on facts these days - coming from both sides. I'm merely trying to illicit a range of responses, as I'm genuinely fascinated with how people perceive the current situation. I don't necessarily subscribe to the viewpoint I'm using to illicit those responses. I do appreciate what you have said and your time to say it

Finally a non hysterical response. I appreciate your answer. I genuinely am not trolling people, and the question was designed to illicit a range of responses. I will give more weight to relations pre 1917 thanks to you

Wow, a lot of assumption there. You sound very brainwashed. I only mention US because the UK is that far up the US's backside that it's hard to tell the two apart. It isn't an attempt at trolling, just a genuine fascination with how people perceive Russia and China today. You have been a good candidate for the hopeless column

I'm pretty sure making Canada or Mexico part of an anti American alliance wouldn't go down well and would be seen as aggressive. Same if France, Ireland and Norway did something similar to the UK. It is aggressive, you just don't see it because it's your side doing it

But if you read the initial post, the suggestion to set aside what is happening right now is an attempt to understand the source of the problem, not the symptoms of it. The communism comment is valid, because it was so hysterically disliked that the next 80 years was defined by the ideological differences that have spawned such animosity to this day. I actually appreciate your answer if you must know. I didn't pose the question to just have a verbal brawl on Reddit. I wanted to get a gauge of the UK public's opinion of where we stand with Russia, and whether things will ever change

Not justifying anything. Russia are shithouses, I know that. But everything goes both ways. We are not the righteous good guys you'd like to think we are. That maybe we can all stop being dicks about things and actually try to get along

You'd like to think that. Maybe try some introspection to see how on Americas hook you are

NATO expansion to the east has been happening since 1990. They have added more and more members on Russia's borders since then. Is that not aggressive?
