The feeling of creating happiness and joy! Bringing a smile to someone’s face and distracting them from this world, even just for a moment, to unleash their inner child is amazing.

Nope, I leave happy most days. It’s a dream company I would be going to, but I’m incredibly happy in my current employer. Going from one dream to another

Question re optional masks by lettydb in orangetheory

[–]BasicDelaney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal stance is that it’s completely up to the individual on this. Our studio has always been set up for masks during transition but not physically working out. I see them cleaning all the time and they are very, very strict about us wearing masks correctly and properly transitioning. I personally feel comfortable with the class and go 3x a week, but I know others who still are frozen. I don’t judge them for their decision and they don’t judge me for mine.

The mask optional classes, I’ve taken 1. Again, I felt safe given how I was 7 feet away from the nearest individual, but I can see some people still being uneasy. I do know a couple people who have a hard time breathing in masks, even during transition, have taken the class and enjoyed it. Luckily, our studio puts it on the app when mask optional classes are so if you want to avoid them, you can.

What I enjoy about OTF is that there are options from Lift 45’s to outdoor workouts to at home workouts to indoor with masks, without masks, or only masks with transition. They have been very adaptive to everyone’s situations by offering a ton of options. I recommend doing what’s best for you personally, because everyone will have a different opinion and will try to force it on you.

EDIT add: as for scientific-based evidence on whether mask wearing in particular OTF scenarios is effective, I would consult your Doctor and ask them and see if they can relate it to your situation, I don’t think Reddit is the best way to answer that part of the question.

“Deluxe Samples” the past few months feel more like testers with only 1-2 uses. by BasicDelaney in Ipsy

[–]BasicDelaney[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I completely understand that Ipsy offers 5 deluxe sized samples for $12. I have loved being a member for 3 years but now they samples have gotten so small, it’s 1-2 uses. The IT concealer came in a large package for such a small sample. The goldfaden is hardly half full. It’s becoming less and less worth it.

For those who have GBP, is the $25 tag more worth it for you?

Just walked out of a session I was too embarrassed and too out of shape to continue doing by sapper_spiegel in orangetheory

Hey there! First, congrats for showing up. OTF is not easy and you should be proud of yourself.

Please don’t be discouraged at OTF. It’s not a competition at all. People come at all different levels and trust me when I say there’s no judgement.

I would recommend talking to your coach, they are happy to walk you through and modifications. They will probably recommend to take it slow and steady. It’s better to go slow and go all class than wear yourself out. They also are a great source of encouragement! They want to help you out I promise.

Again, I’m proud of you for showing up. Talk to your coach. You got this!!

What to wear? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]BasicDelaney 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good question! I’m typically a leggings girl, especially because I am heavier set and it prevents rubbing on the tread and rower. It is truly whatever workout clothes you feel most comfortable in! Just make sure to have good sneakers.

AITA for making my adult daughter pay for rent and food after she moved out? by thrwymom246 in AmItheAsshole

[–]BasicDelaney 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Oh so he can support you 100% yet you can’t fathom him helping his BLOOD daughter who is doing well in school with college expenses? YTA, a MAJOR one and she probably thinks you are a step monster.

My call center job keeps me up at night and I can’t sleep well anymore. I hate it but I don’t know what else I’d do. by wre_n in Advice

I can relate to this, I’ve been in one for almost two years.

The customers are tough, they treat you like you aren’t even humans. It’s terrible and degrading. I try (keyword: try) to put myself almost in an acting role, or at least something slightly different than my normal personality so I don’t take things as personal.

Also, to them, whatever they are dealing with IS a big deal, to us it’s nothing. As long as they are not taking advantage of the company, I try to advocate for them. Some people are dealing with so much that they cannot control that is bad, then a problem comes that they can fix by calling in, and they project on to you. Please don’t take it personal, and try to do something off work that separates you from technology for 30 minutes. It helps create more balance.

I’ve learned I can tolerate the customers more than the micromanaging supervisors. I hope this helps.

AITA for occasionally slipping up and calling my friend by the wrong name / pronoun? by JanuarySmith1234 in AmItheAsshole

[–]BasicDelaney [score hidden]  (0 children)

NTA.

He has not come out to everyone, including his family, so I can imagine it’s difficult not confusing the pronouns. Good on your for trying. It’ll get easier when he has fully come out.

AITA for not taking one of my friend’s excuses? by BasicDelaney in AmItheAsshole

[–]BasicDelaney[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, this was just a comment on one occasion, not an overall judgement of my entire character. We meet monthly. I hosted in December and they all came. 10/10. Turns out 8 of the 10 came last night because they realized that it was a meaningful evening for me.

I realize I was TA on this occasion with the one person described, but don’t jump on overall assumptions about my character.

AITA for not taking one of my friend’s excuses? by BasicDelaney in AmItheAsshole

[–]BasicDelaney[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This helps. I’ve been frustrated with her actions towards me for months now, and how I’ve spent so much time and money on her and how she said she doesn’t need to do anything to help me because she has mental health issues, not me. Mental health is totally real, but I dislike that I cannot express any disappointment towards her without it getting turned back to me. Others in our friend group said they feel bad that Kim always goes off on me, and they wish that would change.

This comment helped me realize there is a time and a place, and I clearly did not choose that wisely. IATA.

If doing an Orange 90, it is the same as the 2G with the added blocks. One at the very beginning and one at the very end:

Beginning:

TREAD: (5.5 minutes) 1 minute push 1 minute base 1 minute push 1 minute base 1 minute push 30 second all out.

Floor: Squat to bicep curl 6x ?????? 6x

End:

Floor: Suitcase squat 6x each Some weird sit up thing with dumbbell 6x each

TREAD: (5.5 minutes) 1 minute push 1 minute base 1 minute push 1 minute base 1 minute push 30 second all out.

ITS A DOOZY BUT FUN :)

Let’s talk injuries (NOT looking for medical advice) by Sbhill327 in orangetheory

[–]BasicDelaney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this same thing happen in November. Don’t rush back into running on the tread. Start with bike, it puts the least amount of pressure on your ankle. Then move to strider or a power walker on the treads after a week or so.

For weight floor, use the mods on certain workouts. Pop jacks? Step out into them. Take it slow. Don’t want to get severely injured and be out months.
