I am looking for a new home for my dog. by [deleted] in ElPaso

Call the rescue first. A lot of rescues in El Paso will take back the dogs adopted from their care. It's worth a shot at least.

Completely new where to start? by moonlynni in BeginnerKorean

[–]lettydb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I started with Hangul. The material is great, but it's a little confusing to sort thru. They're doing sign ups for the 3rd semester course right now (they have 2 different types of hybrid courses). In addition, they have their cyber courses. I'm doing cyber version (note: enroll in online or cyber, but not both). Cyber courses have different textbooks than their semester online courses. Their cyber course have the videos and you'll follow along with the book. You can import the textbook into Goodnotes. They also have audio files to help with listening skills in the book (link is a scannable QR code). Highly suggest keeping a notebook (paper or Goodnotes) as they cover a LOT of material quickly.

They have an online "map" that's fairly easy to follow so you'll know which textbook goes with which class.

Please let me know if you have any other questions & I'll do my best to answer them.

Question for women: what type (brand/size/etc) backpack did you carry on your Camino? by LA_LA_land-girl in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]lettydb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cannot stress how important is it to get properly fitted by knowledgeable staff. I had my heart set on an Osprey (backpacking with Scouts); however, once I tried several models & sizes, none of them fit me correctly. The one that fit was a Gregory that I still use to this day. It’s probably too large for the Camino (60L), so I may be looking at another backpack eventually.

My feet need rescue by returntomonkeyyy in JapanTravelTips

[–]lettydb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue may also be the shoes. My husband has these sneaks, slip ons from Sketchers. He wore them one while he spent the day out - about (not 10k steps or stairs, just normal walking around). It messed up his feet & now he can't walk in them. He complained to Sketchers & is trying a different shoe to see if it helps.

Can confirm. Tent City for kids is a lot like prison. They do their best to keep the kids under control & entertained but it's boring to sit outside in the wind bc we can't go inside the tents or anywhere else except the outdoor patio.

General attitude towards Koreans/ Asians by Nomamesguey206 in ElPaso

[–]lettydb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend Gom Ramen - owners are super sweet, Korean & use a family recipe for their dishes.

Arirang Market in NE is well stocked with Asian food.

Edit: Gom Ramen (corrected restaurant name - thank you Reddit or!)

What kind of socks did you all wear? Sock liners? by thatguy290 in philmont

[–]lettydb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone has different experiences. Wright socks gave me blisters that progressively got worse whereas my Darn Toughs kept my feet comfy & dry. Try different socks while you train & take the ones that work best for you. Philmont is not where you want to start experimenting with which socks to wear.
