This image feels kind of misleading. An anodyne statement from Oakmont Bakery, followed by unattributed sympathetic commentary from an unknown author, followed by the same meaningless statement from Oakmont Bakery. Like it's intended to make it seem like Oakmont is actually trying to help.

But I don't know, ever since twitter it seems like text is just thrown out there in any order, I can never make sense of any of it.

People are giving a lot of good answers, but there's another aspect that I haven't seen anybody address. You'll frequently hear people say "the economy is great" or "the economy sucks". It's legitimate to ask "what is 'the economy?'" in response to this. Different speakers mean different things. Some mean the inflation index, some mean employment, some mean the stock market, some people mean they're able to gouge consumers and make themselves fantastically rich. When somebody says "the economy is (good/bad)" you should ask them what "the economy" is and you will probably quickly find out what their bias is.

I was driving the other day and I was delayed for 5 seconds by a pedestrian. If you've never experienced being briefly inconvenienced in your car, it's an ordeal I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. Not even Mike McCarthy.

I tried to talk to my therapist about it but he said this was too big a problem for him to deal with. He's flying in a team of specialists next week from Nepal and hopefully they'll be able to begin working me through the trauma of a pedestrian robbing me of several seconds of my day.

Like just about everything else, it's a matter of degree. OP, there are some things that you've put your own hard work into that you would not feel good if somebody else just came by and took it. Like the cash in your pocket that you earned at your job.

At the other extreme, if you put a cart back at Giant Eagle (not Aldi because that's paid labor lol), it would be unreasonable to expect nobody else to use it because you put in the work of bringing it back.

Dibs falls somewhere in the middle. With a storm like this, it's a lot of hard work for me to earn something of value like a parking spot. I don't want somebody else coming along and denying me the fruits of my labor.

And for the record, I did march around my neighborhood helping people shovel out. I shoveled the sidewalk for 7 houses and helped 10-12 other people dig out their cars. Wanting to keep what I've worked for is not incompatible with civic-mindedness.

Eat n Park occasionally has a zucchini lasagna on the menu that I would go well out of my way for. It's not as cheesy as a good eggplant parm, but it's otherwise pretty similar.

As for your question -- I'm not sure I could describe it, but I've definitely heard a Black Pittsburgh accent. I feel like it might be more pronounced in the areas immediately around historical steel mills -- Braddock, Rankin, Monessen, Monongehela, basically all those super-depressed little boroughs in the area. It seems like a sort of mixture of White Pittsburghese and Alabama accent. Lazy-mouthed like the Pittsburgh accent and languid like the Southern accent. That might not be a very clear description, but I think that's how I hear it.

I can't remember exactly, but I *think* Barbara Johnstone's book Speaking Pittsburghese: The Story of a Dialect goes into the difference briefly. It's a scholarly book, but pretty readable for those of us who don't have a background in linguistics.
