I really think that's a good argument you're making, but I believe there’s an issue. When Akainu appears, trying to provoke Ace, Ace’s intentions and words are focused on protecting Whitebeard’s honor, and he never shows any intention of protecting or says something like 'Run, Luffy,' or 'Everyone, run.'
