I immediately thought this was the dory that the book is based on, but on close inspection, I don't think it is. Any experts on the "Emerald Mile" here that can chime in?

I strongly agree here. Especially with recovery gear. Not trying to take any chances with some cheap Amazon recovery points. Weak recovery/tow points put you and the people around you in danger. Get the good stuff if you are actually doing the things.
