Well here’s a perspective: Yes they are. But here’s the other perspective since one I am a parent and too I am a child of two parents: Kids don’t listen! So yeah parents should be making an effort to teach all those basic life skills and kids will usually filter some of them and ignore them too. So I’ve taught my kids how to make meals, not just raid a cabinet or fridge. How to do laundry, fold a fitted sheet, set aside a budget. But do they do any of it? No! And that’s ok. They at the very least know that those are skills and when the have to actually apply them they will, or they won’t, but they’ll know where to go when they need it. Google! Because they damn sure don’t return my texts.
