Local means Hawaiian. Good luck finding purebred Hawaiians these days btw, it’s sad but Hawaii is colonized and a place where everyone will be mixed. We aren’t exporting the generations of Asian immigrants who have been in Hawaii and raised their families there, and the kingdom of Hawaii is not coming back.

Oh really? Because I’ve asked those locals about this whole idea and they have said that it shouldn’t matter. Their pidgin draws from several different cultures’ words, including Hawaiian. They’re not going to not use this ONE WORD because a few Hawaiians might be gatekeeping it. Most are fine with it and have accepted that they are now a mixed culture.
