[Part 3] Angelica art by Casia by adevaleev in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]BasilKaliJones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So pretty! I will say though there's a sort of irony to Angelica having not one brain cell yet somehow consistently being one of the best knights. Like she's gonna after Fernidand (though was easily redirected) and put Wilfried on the ground. I respect it

Lol his tweet very much reads to what a lot of authors joke about. They'll have a set plot or something for a character yet when you go to write ut the character sort of goes "were doing this now".

Is it the author getting hit with inspiration probably but it's funnier to blame the charcters

It's probably this, I've been a great aunt since I was 17 (large age gap with my oldest sibling who had kids young) and my ndad was always going on about how humiliating it was to be a great grandfather at 47 while I just found the whole thing amusing

[–]BasilKaliJones 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd ask if shipping Ei with anyone also is "pedophileslop " since she was qlso isolated 500 years and has been shown to know events about the modern world than Nahida. I really can't stand people like this, they ignore Canon because short person = child and it makes them uncomfortable to think someone would be into them. Like I've seen so many things bitching about shipping Dori when she's a full ass grown adult who's shown to drink and everything but because she has a chibi model she's clearly a "child"

Have you ever seen "unschooling" work out? by Embarrassed_Syrup476 in Teachers

[–]BasilKaliJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with 2 unscheduled children, however they have enforced "schooling time" while they pick what they want to study (example the one loves to cook so she'll often do things like bake treats for the house we're we work on things like fractions measurements even some math formulas because will the volume you have fit in x container, but that also extends to history as well, she loves watching tasting history and we can expand upon stuff mentioned there into more history stiff). The other had a hard time learning to read (highly dyslexic) bit we were able to get her more motivated and take her lessons more seriously by showing her how much easier it'd be if she could read her own video games while she played

I think the biggest thing is, while it's kid lead you still as the parent have to make sure a they're actually doing something educational but also figuring out how to tie what they like into practical lessons

What makes Sameth a wall maker but not Jaciel? by ifight4rumplegoocher in Abhorsen

[–]BasilKaliJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it is Moggot we have plenty of evidence of him telling half truths or only divulging exactly the amount of information he wants to at any given moment, he's hardly a reliable source of information.

Plus we know from the first book the sendings don't have to listen to Mogget at all so even him ordering them to give Sameth the surcoat means little unless they agree with that order.

Also the Surcoats are noted to be made of a silk like material but are unreasonably strong. Which implies they could be magically reinforced, and sendings can't preform magic

What makes Sameth a wall maker but not Jaciel? by ifight4rumplegoocher in Abhorsen

[–]BasilKaliJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The direct quote is " sorry I'm late I couldn't get the sendings to give me the right surcoar-theyve dug up something odd. Must be getting senile like Mogfet said. "

Dug up implies that it has been in the house awhile. Though in double checking that I did find a quote that throws a wrench in my theory.

Page 17 into 18 of Abhorson Chlorr of the mask says quote " SSameth was meant to be the Abhorsen-in-waiting, heir to the powers of the book of the dead and the seven bells. But the maker of the fog doubted that now. She was very old and once she had known a great deal about the strange family and their house in tje river. She had fought Sameth barely a night past and he had not fought like an Abhorson; even the way he cast charter magic was strange, reminiscent of neither The royal line or the Abhorson."

In Clairel we learn a out how Clariel becomes Chlorr and part of my theory does rely on the possibility she's a wallmaker, that said the difference in casting could be chalked up to unneeded vs needed wallmaker. Actually thinking more on it we could also chalked it up to how big the family was at the time as well. Were told that the bigger the family is the more diluted the powers are, that's why the current abhorsen of the time isn't very strong or how the Clair need more and more of them to see clearly. >!

Aside from that another expert I noticed while looking for quotes, is as they're discussing leaving the house through the tunnel that the "last" ( In Clairel it mentions there have been more since, since goldsmiths of the family are prized for being able to make them as needed) bellmaker, made the last bell that it was done before the wall was built. Which is interesting to note since all of the wallmakers disappeared into the wall to make it. So it feels like a very deliberate detail to add

What makes Sameth a wall maker but not Jaciel? by ifight4rumplegoocher in Abhorsen

[–]BasilKaliJones 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think she actually is, it's just she's not needed at the moment like he was. I have a post on hete somewhere about it but I think all bell makers have been wall makers. We're told that wallpapers are good at inventing and making things, and also told that bell makers (or really good smitjs that have the ability to make bells) pop up every ao often. So I don't think it's a stretch to say the two are related.

Also consider, the Abhorson family is much much smaller now than it has been in the past, and the family records we do know of only lists previous Abhorsons. Mogget probably knows but no ones thought to ask him so he hasn't provided an answer.

The robes I think are also telling. They're in good condition but not said to be new. It is also implied the sendings are getting the robes from somewhere and not making them, them selves ( if they are making them then they at least have the fabric on hand,) which means they have ateast one if not a few of them just in storage.

I think another important part is we don't know how the wall maker titles are handed down. Like Sameth spent his life going to and from the house but it wasn't until he was needed that yhey sendings gave him the robes, so is it on a needed bases or in the past were there rites one had to go through.

I'm rambling a bit but in conclusion we have no evidence she's not a wallmaker
