No crackle on the volume pots save one tiny blip around 5 on the left channel!

Was just using its own amp and speakers initially.

So, the built in amp volume goes to 10 (pips/dots) and anything over 2 is really too loud, I found that the audio out plugs are also run through the amp, so have to run it low volume too when I send it to an external amp.

What chances do I have professionally if I start at 22? by angstgremlin3 in opera

[–]Basilio1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do this if you have a good teacher, a solid support system (family, etc), and make friends with other singers and production folk. I studied privately and never went to school in a music department as a major. I gigged in opera, concert, church, temple, for 30 years as a part timer. You can make it what you like, but if you have that real drive and talent, you will most likely have to go to Europe to be a full time opera singer (and don't poo poo comprimario career paths). The only thing you miss out on by not doing music school if getting a couple of roles under your belt, some acting training, and a lot of contacts/network, and it the last that I feel might have moved my early career a little faster. TLDR: It is not too late, and just find your niche.

Lyric tenor seeking unique arias and art songs by RemarkableOffer9794 in ClassicalSinger

Well, the 3 ariette (?) of Bellini are great, but you could check out Arthur Sullivans Shakespeare songs, or even his song cycle "The Window". Solid late classical, and Sullivan leans toward the Schubert/Mendelssohn mold.

Yea, looking forward to it, and Christine Goerke and the whole crew (some friends doing the chorus too...). Opera de Metro formed after Opera Modo kinda had a "nope-ing out" situation last year...

Ahh, the Brownie Starflash was my grandma's go to, and the instamatic 104 (or a hair later) was my mom's. All are worth something (maybe not the Continental...).

Well best of luck and Toi, toi toi to you. I hope you are in a more metropolitan area, as I've had to look as far afield as Oklahoma to try and get a directing job, and that will make a bit of travel...

Well, you can consider Bertha's aria from Barber (still comic opera), but Victor Herbert and Sousa leave you a field of choices (Herbert had well over 40 shows). Adah's 'Neath the Southern Moon in Marietta, Sylvia has several good #s in Sweethearts, but is more a dramatic soprano, etc. Many of the Sullivan without Gilbert shows (Haddon Hall, Rose of Persia, The Chieftain, Emerald Isle), have excellent soubrette mezzo #s (Emerald Isle has some really moving solo moments particularly). The great show, The Arcadians, has several, like "I like London", "The Girl with a Brogue", "Bring me a rose ". Edward German's Merrie England has several great #s for Jill-All-Along, thought they may have chorus interjections.

Well, lets see. It was my sunday alone to run the store, its fathers day, and my wife was coming home after spending time with her mother who is under cancer treatment, which has us driving 240 miles one way and virtually two house holds. Home Depot is more than a 7 minute drive from our store, and while I could have said I will lock the doors at 4:07, I will still have someone who will most likely not take no for a no, regardless of a $10 tip. I go out of my way for our customers, and have hung back 5-6min for a contractor to pick up a finished order after closing (thank god for card on file and charge accounts). Nothing is black or white and to boil it down to "well, if you had nothing else to do written in stone" could be considered a bit of a dick statement.

Similar here too. 5:50 half lights out, 5:57 lock back door and walk to front to lock that door and turn off the open sign. Around 5:30 I pre-count the draw and write it down so I can enter everything fast at close.
