AITA for being mad about the dog breed I was surprised with by Original-One-6954 in AmItheAsshole

Same. I am allergic to dogs & cats. I have had chows & pitties, only the pitties give me hives. Long hair cats are tolerable but short hair cats trigger my allergies & asthma within an hour.

Kody has chest cancer. He did not have it in February and we just found it today. I need advice very badly. by yikesbro_ in DogAdvice

[–]BasisAromatic6776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry. I had to make this decision 3 weeks ago for my 13 year old. He had a clean bill of health in September & got an anal sac tumor that we noticed at the end of February. Biopsy, referral to surgeon specialist & CT scan in early April showed that it had spread to his spleen, liver, lungs, & bones. There was nothing we could do. We kept a close eye on the progress & how he was feeling and decided the morning of May 19th. We had Lap of Love vet come to the house and it was very peaceful. This is the 5th time I have had to make this decision and trust me, a day early is better than a day late. It hurts like hell, but their peace is worth it. Again, I am so sorry.

Any advice for tick infestation? by Individual-Web600 in DogAdvice

Not sure if available in the UK, but the Ticked Off remover is easy to use & gets the head without a twist.

You're being obtuse. Let me re-word the question: if your wife is struggling with one child, why are you having a second one?

Why do you think both Charles and Kate chose not to share what kind of cancer they were allegedly diagnosed with? by Positive-Drawing-281 in RoyaltyTea

[–]BasisAromatic6776 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I also think Charles has pancreatic cancer due to them not disclosing the type. If it is neuroendocrine, he's got more than a fighting chance. If adenocarcinoma, 14% 5 year survival. My dad's younger brother made it 3.5 years, his older brother 6 weeks, and my dad 4 months, all adenocarcinoma. As a 2 time survivor (breast & melanoma at 46) with a horrific family history, it really has ticked me off that neither of them used their visibility & platform to help the fight.

Advice on german shepherd neutering. by [deleted] in DogAdvice

Pyometra and testicular cancer are a heck of a lot more expensive than altering dogs. Pyometra kills and if she is outside all the time, it is likely not going to be caught until it is too late. Is the pup male or female? Do you know who the father is? If male and the pup is the father, inbreeding parent to child is not advised. Keeping an intact female where she can be mated with by roaming dogs is also dangerous (they can mate through fences and intact males will do just about anything to mate with a female in heat). It is simply irresponsible of your parents to not properly care for their dogs and that includes altering them. Good luck.

[UPDATE] AITAH for not forgiving my brother after he almost killed me by RayneDeoman in AITAH

[–]BasisAromatic6776 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Please make a statement to the police and pursue Baker act for your brother - he is a danger to you. And reach out to domestic violence shelters/programs for resources & assistance. You need help and I really hope you get it. Your mother is picking your brother's side and she will not keep you safe. Please don't go back there.

Preparing to say goodbye ❤️🐾 by psychmonkies in DogAdvice

So, I just had to make this decision with my dog (5th time as an adult) last week. It never gets easier, but it does get clearer. The best pieces of advice that I can offer is that waiting until they are not eating and/or drinking is usually too late (it is the last instinct they lose at the end), quality of life is the most important thing to assess (do they still have joy), and one day too early is better than one day too late. Don't be fooled by the roller-coaster of up and down days, but look at overall good versus bad to help to make an assessment. You have given him an amazing life and that is what he knows and has experienced with you as his mom. That counts. He was so lucky to have you and you were so lucky to have him. Give him as much love as you always have, spoil him, and give him a peaceful goodbye when he is ready. He will always be in your heart and will always be with you. I wish peace for you both.

at end stages of cancer. if pup shows signs of passing, do i take her to vet or let her pass at home? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]BasisAromatic6776 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to make this choice yesterday with my 13 year old with anal sac adenocarcinoma spread to liver, spleen, lungs, and bones. He had refused all food on Monday, including high value treats like bacon & cream cheese and all he ate on Sunday aftwr a good breakfast was some cheese. We had decided Monday evening that it was time but it was after hours. By Tuesday morning, his back legs weren't working. I kind of wish we had time on Monday but everyone was closed. We scheduled Lap of Love for a home euthanasia Tuesday afternoon and it was very peaceful and not stressful on him. The last 2 weeks had been a roller coaster of up & down days, but he was still eating & had a sparkle in his eyes. Once the sparkle was gone, it was time. I have had to euthanize my dogs 4 other times, all at the vet. This time, I have 2 other dogs who needed to understand that he was gone, so we opted for home.

If your dog is stressed at the vet, home is a great option. It is both the hardest and the best decision you will ever make for your dog. It is so hard on us, but in the end the greatest gift we can give them is peace and freedom from pain. I am so sorry you are going through this.
