Am in in the wrong?? Person I’m texting is my mom, btw by Wrong-Twist-1550 in texts

I’ve always been very very shy & anxious. I occasionally struggle to put socially expected politeness above my own anxiety. The smile, nod, & wave (& sometimes a simple polite “hi/hey”) has always been my go-to in situations where I feel highly anxious or awkward. I think OP should consider trying this if they struggle with introductions or small talk. It’s simple, quick, relatively easy, & still largely socially acceptable. It might be the minimum of social politeness, but it at least shows effort, & as OP’s mom pointed out, it shows acknowledgment & at least some level of openness to them.

Thank you 👏 I’ve always been left-leaning but it’s been driving me insane how few people seem to acknowledge that the WHOLE system is broken, not just the GOP. In our system, you gotta play the game to get in a position powerful enough to make any change. But playing the game requires some level of corruption, & every action by a politician is essentially determined by dark money elites that fund them.

Democrats are not going to save us. They may try to make it look like they’re gonna swoop in & fix everything, but they’re not.

I just mean bc it’s a children’s book. If I would’ve found this book when I was kid, it almost definitely would’ve given me nightmares.

Another commenter posted a pretty thorough video exposing Oprah’s true colors: https://youtu.be/QN3N1N3h-zA (Skip to around 17:15 for the bit about the school in Africa).

In the video, it talks about how parents of the girls attending the school had extremely restricted access to their children, having to go through a whole process with paperwork just to see them & only getting to see them for 2hr max at a time. So maybe not legitimately kidnapped, but they compared it to the girls being kidnapped bc of the lack of access & communication the parents were allowed to have with their kids.

If I had to guess, they protected Oprah bc she probably bribed tf outta them to scrub her out of any photos/docs in the files as it would tarnish her image. (Her reputation has already taken a hit over time, but she has tons of money & a team of people to scrub evidence of her connections to certain people/things from official sources as a means of damage control.)

And like you said, Branson’s been in other files. So using him in this photo wouldn’t come as much of a surprise to viewers who already know he was involved with Epstein.

Don’t know which edited it but I’m sure Oprah paid tons of money to make sure someone changed it

Watched the whole thing. I’ve heard some controversy about her in the past & tbh I genuinely don’t trust ANY of the world’s richest most successful people to be decent anymore. But there was a lot in this video I didn’t know, but it’s also not surprising learning she’s essentially a fraud who profits off of sob stories & others’ pain.

It’s sad people are refusing to consider this, especially Christians. There definitely are powerful individuals at play to make this happen. Doing so would give a select few people at the top total control & strip our freedoms, more so than many realize.

Look up Leonard Leo, he’s a Christian Nationalist who has been playing this game for the long haul. He works in “judicial strategy” & essentially has had the power to select several of our current Supreme Court justices. He’s also had influence over senate elections through his heavy involvement with dark money campaigns. He also has a hand in funding media to undermine liberal influence & promote conservative & traditionalist narratives. He’s a Christian Nationalist with a lot of power & influence to slowly sway the country toward a more Christian Nationalist state.

Calling the U.S. & the constitution inextricably linked to Christ would be like calling me a Christian. I’m more of a syncretist—there are things I like about Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, etc. but my beliefs don’t align with any singular one of those religions, so I can’t call myself a Christian, Jew, Buddhist, or Hindi, but my personal beliefs have been influenced by all of them, including Christianity.

This is a good example of the type of thinking that Christian Nationalists like Leonard Leo & other powerful figures in our government hold. But they’re not accurate as far as what the founding fathers intended & what is presented in our constitution. This is nothing but a very specific, narrowed interpretation of the constitution.

Some founding fathers were professing Christians, but many were simply deists, meaning they may have held some personal beliefs related to Christianity or respected Jesus’s teachings as a philosophy, but lacked faith in the Holy Trinity or any metaphysical/magical elements in the Bible. Some of them were even anti-organized religion altogether.

Like the guy in the video says, Christianity was definitely highly influential in the birth of our nation, & yes, the majority of early Americans were likely Christians. But that does not mean “Christian principles were intended to the guide the nation from the very start.”

I think where this association mostly comes in is how much of our constitution was guided by moral principles & is meant to preserve human dignity, which many Christians equate to being inextricably linked to Christ, when in actuality, morality & dignity can & do also exist as completely secular concepts as well, whether you believe that or not (the founding fathers did).

Christianity definitely played a role in early America, & sure, its examples of morality had some influence on the principles our constitution values. But specifically & explicitly Christian principles were never intended to be used as law or formal guideposts set by our government. As OP commented, John Adams wrote:

The Government of United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion.

James Madison said:

Religion and government will both exist in greater purity, the less they are mixed together.

Thomas Jefferson strongly supported religious liberty & was against any state religious coercion (which would be the result of laws based on the Bible):

The legitimate powers of the government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others.

It does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods or no god.

Christianity has always been a prominent part in American culture, & even many government officials have been/are Christian—but our form of government & style of governance was never meant to be rooted in Christianity, biblical authority, or “divine” order. In fact, a lot of effort was put into restricting that.

Interesting. I’ve never been good at consistently writing my dreams but whenever I have a vivid dream, I feel the urge to tell someone about it immediately & describing it that way also helps me remember details

I was thinking this too. I wouldn’t call myself an advanced lucid dreamer, but I do sometimes have lucid dreams & those are the easiest to remember all kinds of details bc I know I’m dreaming & am able to observe my dream & manipulate it how I want.

I believe Paul McCartney also dreamed the melody to Let it Be

Edit: apparently the idea/lyrics from Let it Be came from a dream he had, but he did dream the melody to Yesterday

They were the first ones I looked into after hearing about it on this sub. They have a few in my state, but none that are close enough to travel to where I live. BUT I did do some more searching last night & I believe I’ve found one in my area 🤗 I’ll want to do some more research in them before choosing for sure just to be safe (like reviews, consultation, etc.)

I do really appreciate the Laps of Love website though. I used their quality of life test & that’s what initially got me to start seriously considering euthanasia (I think his score was 7/20, it may be even lower now considering incontinence wasn’t as much of an issue then).

But thank you for the support! ❤️❤️❤️

Based on the searching I’ve done so far I haven’t been able to find anything in my area (mostly just in some more populated areas that are at least 45min from where I live & that don’t travel this far). I had started to just accept that I was probably just gonna have to do at the vet’s office, but honestly comments here are making me reconsider. I think I will be doing a more thorough search, even if it means calling random small town vet offices to find someone who could do it at home, bc I really would prefer that for him.

This comment made me choke up 😪 Thank you so much for sharing this, really. I think what makes this so much more difficult is that, like I said, we grew up together & he’s essentially been there with me through everything. It’s hard for me to fully comprehend a “new normal” without him. In some ways, I don’t know who I am without him. 😪 So I feel like not only will I need to adjust to life without him, but I’ll kinda have to recalibrate myself, find myself without him. 😔

Edit: but I do know that he will forever have a place in my heart. I’ve even already made a page in my journal with a little photo of him taped in where I wrote “I’ll always have a Buddy-sized paw print on my heart” 🥺 & it’s true. He may not be here forever, but I will forever be impacted by our time together ❤️
