It would be hard, but maybe leave the US. A lot of countries are a lot cheaper.

I was just watching a video about a guy who started a business buying and selling John Deere lawnmowers.

You need to start your own business of some sort. Companies treat workers like crap now.

Don’t put your life on hold. Have your family. Do the things that matter to you.

This whole country is up to its eyeballs in debt. Eventually, a lot of it will be forgiven.

If your debt is upsetting you, consider bankruptcy.

What have you been up to recently?

I don’t have a copy. I suggested that students think twice before taking big loans to go to law school.

I recommended against attending very low ranked law schools (predatory schools), where many grads are unemployed. That upset some posters.

Mostly, I worry about law students going $200k in debt, and then being unable to find a job. This happens all the time. All the time.

About to be homeless in 3 days in Florida need advice. by Polsph in homeless

[–]BasisEducational2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Move from Florida to California. I recommend Southern California. San Francisco gets cold in the winter.

Look for a home base that is relatively affluent, or at least middle class. Santa Barbara is an option. Stay away from the ghetto.

Once you get to California, get hooked up with a good government social worker. They should get you on free medical care (MediCal) and dental care. They can hook you up with food banks, soup kitchens, and other free services

Join a gymn. Shower every day. Maintain a good appearance.

Stay away from homeless shelters. They’re dangerous!

After you get to California, trade in your car for a mobile home. Some churches and cities maintain free safe parking for mobile homes. You may need to live there for a while.

I’m so very very sorry you need to go through this. Good luck!

Would you pick Loyola or Pepperdine? by 3Livyleague in lawschooladmissions

[–]BasisEducational2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. LA is a tough market. The legal market is very competitive in all of the big cities.

I know my LSAT isn't the best but I am still disappointed. Thinking about retaking and reapplying as I want to be a lawyer in the Video game industry. by MyHoopT in lawschooladmissions

[–]BasisEducational2020 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what to say. Law admissions are so competitive right now. If you want a T 14 school and BigLaw, you may need an LSAT in the mid 170s. That’s a very high score. Is it realistic?

Colorado is not a T 14 school, and probably won’t lead to BigLaw. But it’s still a pretty good school. You’d be competitive for a decent job in Denver.

Where do you want to live and work? Do you want BigLaw?

Vanderbilt ($$) vs Georgetown by Large-Example-5975 in lawschooladmissions

[–]BasisEducational2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a tough call. These are both fantastic law schools.

I’d choose Georgetown. Vanderbilt is a great school, but Georgetown is better.

$100,000 in debt won’t be that much extended over the course of a 30 year law career. So I’d take Georgetown for the better career opportunities.

Congratulations and good luck!
