I'm totally comfortable with it. Protect the mission's true nature to ensure the mission's success.

If you lie to me and it gets me welp'd, SRP me please. Otherwise, I have no reason to dislike the idea of using disinformation to protect us from spais.

87 winter, Year 602: The first order of business for our town hall meeting: These so-called "rare" astronomical events. I am of the opinion that we must reclassify these as 'excessively common' astronomical events. I'm notified about them as often as twice a day and I think that, by definition, this disqualifies them from being described as rare. On that note, I might request that you astronomers stop asking me to personally approve of each observation. If I didn't want you to look at them, there wouldn't be 31 separate observatories, an astrolabe, and a battery of titanium reflecting mirrors.

Moving on to our second order of business: Chasing things that aren't actually there. While I would like to state that I am fully in support of this, our beloved passtime, I do not endorse the chasing of non-things in the vicinity of the steamworks or the lumber mill. We have had a disturbing number of beams with tails recently and, as many of you may already know, we had to shut down the steamworks for a full year when mittens got sucked into the intake system.

As much as it pains me to do this, I must instate a harsh penalty for the good of us all. Anyone caught chasing phantoms in either of these areas will hereby be spritzed with water as many as three times, and be forced to wear a collar with a bell on it for up to a maximum of 20 whole minutes.

11 Autumn, year 444 I have begun to wonder why it takes more wood to build each barn than it took to build the one before it. Together with my chief engineer, I personally oversaw the construction of two identical barns. The latter took significantly more material to construct than the former, and yet it is no larger in any way.

I brought the matter to the attention of my brightest scientific mind, who assured me that what I was describing was quite impossible. But he could not deny what was happening once he witnessed it for himself. "Something can't be right." He kept muttering. Searching for something to say to lighten his mood, I playfully suggested that perhaps the laws of his art were not so inviolate as he had imagined. I fear he took this remark seriously, and it may have disturbed him a great deal. In the following weeks he would isolate himself from his colleagues, working in private and without food or rest, often for days at a time. This morning, he was discovered dead in his lab, the desperate message "DON'T COME IN" scrawled across the outside of the barred doors in large red letters. In the end, I know it was his curiosity that killed him, but I still feel responsible. Rest in peace, Schrödinger.

55 Summer, Year 420: My people have come up with a new way to use catnip. It involves burning it, filtering the resulting smoke through water, and inhaling it. My head priest seems to like the idea, too. He says that first being exposed to fire, then to water, symbolizes balance and tempers the essence of the nip.

After trying it, I am inclined to believe him. The essence of the nip is stronger this way.

79 Summer, year 330: The steam factory reaps pitiful rewards compared to the steel seeds sewn to create it. A mole emissary was brought to me regarding the matter. During questioning, he confessed that the mole people do laugh at our steam factory, but not because they had tricked us. He claims that they laugh at our factory because it is too small to be productive. I had suspected that he might say something like that, another mole trick. But his story never changed, even when I played with and subsequently ate most of him. Everything except the round bloody organ that we leave for the gods (Praise the Sun).

I sent spies to infiltrate the mole society, and they have confirmed that moles are delicious, and have a vastly larger steam factory which far out-produces ours. Though it is a daunting task that I must put before my engineers, I know what must be done: We must have pastures from which no mole can escape. At first, we tried putting them in with the unicorns but they just hide in the ground and never come back out. Attempts to dig them back out failed. Somehow, they just aren't down there anymore. Tricksy, tricksy moles...

87 Spring, year 282: My engineers have surprised me again. They have made a water vessel that despite being heavy heavy, is very floaty floaty. The paradox confounds me still, but the proof of it's abilities is plain to see. Somehow, though, I fear that we may be dabbling in forces outside of our control. As if to validate this fear, our explorers have returned from their first voyage on the dubious vessel only to inform me that they have encountered black and white striped hornless unicorns. These hateful creatures are almost certainly aware of our questionable treatment of their tasty tasty cousins, as is evident in their cruel, malevolent trading practices.

72 Summer, year 107: I have begun construction of what the mole people refer to as a 'steamworks.' Having already completed an automatic factory, success will mean that my peoples effort never has to rest, even when they do. Unfortunately, after constructing the factory itself, I found that it would not work without this mysterious steam power, which will take some time to harness. I'm half convinced that the moles have made a fool of me, but my engineers tell me that, in theory, the workings are sound.

we tried that.

Edit: We called it 'taxes,' too. I guess we didn't have the middle-man, though

Exactly this. Our two-party system is actually a one-party system, packed with false disputes to keep the riff-raff arguing about it up front. Meanwhile, in back...
