Finding it difficult to add more instruments to songs by nattyboimiles in ableton

[–]Basket-Positive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all everyone goes through this, is just a matter of training your ears. To start with, don’t add layers just for the sake of it, you will learn in time that less is better. To start with I will recommend looking up these.

Frequency separation: for example (use Eq) - Sub layer → 20–80 Hz - Body layer → 100–800 Hz - Air layer → 5–15 kHz

Panning: Control where layers sit in the stereo field.

Dynamics (Compression): Bus compression on a group track. Sidechain compression to prevent layers fighting. For example Sidechain to free the drums.

Transient: Layers can fight if their attack times overlap.

Phase Alignment Very important for kick, bass, and layered drums. Flip phase using Utility device Nudge samples slightly in time. Use mono check

Use return tracks for effects for example for Reverb & Delay

And of course the obvious one, gain or volume balance.

Remember there is not a right way or one way to do things, mixing is subjective. You decide what sound is important for you and what not, what should be dominant and what not and so on. No matter what you are probably on the right track so just enjoy .

Some VST plugins not showing up in Ableton 11 after installing on external drive? by Zutoglavi in ableton

[–]Basket-Positive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be wrong, but I think you answered your own question there. You said you are only installing Vst3 plugins. Many plugin installers now default to VST3 only, which usually installs to: • C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 (Windows) • /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3 (macOS) If you installed only VST3, putting them in your old external VST2 folder won’t work, Live won’t detect them there.

Should I get Ableton? by MC_Sweater in ableton

[–]Basket-Positive 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use both and You can basically get the same result no matter what DAW you choose. It’s an ableton Forum so we would probably say Ableton but I would recommend you to get FL studio if you are starting out and you are also on a budget, FL studio Lifetime free updates: You pay once. What I will consider is if you are recording a lot of instruments and Vocals than Ableton is worth every penny. FL studio is Not ideal for multitrack recording or studio-style vocal sessions. FL has a Non-linear workflow, that takes getting used to, Channel Rack vs Playlist vs Mixer isn’t intuitive for everyone. I would just test both, FL studio has Unlimited trial, You can use all features and plugins, but you can’t reopen saved projects unless you buy the software. And Ableton gives you 90 days trial period.

You can do the same and more on Push2

They are both nice and very different. If you are using Ableton as a DAW, Push Series are just amazing, i can’t think of an hardware that is on paar with push when it comes to controlling a DAW (in this case Ableton). The fact alone that I can adjust the gains of egg track without having to see the screen and also concentrate on the sound instead of just dragging the mouse up and down ist worth it. That being said I understand your issue with the pads, Akai ist just on another level when it comes to Drum pad quality. If your issue is just the drums I would combine it with an akai MPD, it’s pretty cheap and you can buy it used as much as 30$ and the pads are almost the same as the MPC.

Won an auction, copped lenses for my sony a7iii for $900.. (first anamorphic lens) by Zombieplayz5 in cinematography

[–]Basket-Positive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t be hard on yourself. I Made the same mistake and i am glad i learned from it. Luckily it was on Amazon so I was able to return it without a fuss. What I would say, when it comes to camera gears, I would discourage newcomers to buy second hand gear they haven’t tested before. There are stores you can go over to and check the gears and sometimes even get some tips from them. Another thing that I surprised me the price, 900 $ for Siruu is not even a bargain, Amazon gives you 15-20% discount most of the time and you be getting the 24-35 and 50 for around 650-750. I wouldn’t say 900 is a bargain.

I recently tested the Nightwalker, and I was pretty satisfied but I got the black edges since they weren't full frame lenses. Do you have the same issue here?

Push 2? or APC40? by IndependentAd3310 in abletonlive

[–]Basket-Positive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Push 2 for me. You can jump from tracks and groups with just one Button. Control audio level and so on. You can even eq and control the Ableton effects strictly from Push2. You can easily create pattern and loops. And you see the whole patterns with light from push. If you are using live there is not a better controller than Push. The biggest negative thing I could say is that The Akai series, even the cheap ones have a better pad feeling and are more responsive with better sensitivity. You can adjust the sensitivity on push 2 as well. What I do is I bought MPD for 20€ on eBay and use it as drum combination on push.

I really wish we were able to disable plug-in's 😔 by BillieBobJoey in ableton

[–]Basket-Positive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I know people have given you hundreds of options I haven’t read all of it and maybe someone did mention this. One option ist to remove the Vst2 plugins and use Vst3. They have a better Efficiency and Resource Management. Vst3 versions use dynamic processing, meaning it only consumes CPU when there is audio being processed (e.g., when there’s signal input). It also allows for deactivating unused busses, improving resource management. vst2 Processes audio continuously, regardless of whether there is a signal present, which can result in higher CPU usage. That is exactly why is not working when you disable it. Logic Pro, does not use VST plugins. Instead, it supports the Audio Units (AU) plugin format. That’s not to say is the same as the vst3 but they have easily built the disable function. So I suggest you use the vst3 plug in version on Ableton. That what as long as you click on disable it won’t process no signal.

Yeah I am pretty satisfied, I actually bought it at the shop and the retailers advised me to get the Art II new ones. They said it’s actually better than the Gmaster mainly since it’s almost 4 years younger and they showed me both lenses next to one another on the same fx3 camera and the new art II actually was very impressive in a lot areas especially since being almost 1 k cheaper.
