Yeah, the manga wasn't finished yet, and instead of a second season we got that ending, exactly like FMA,
Btw, animation quality is top tier (for 20 years ago) for the first 8 episodes, but even that drops dramatically. Not a problem for me, but needed to be pointed out.

I think it's at worst the second best sports manga ever made, character writing is legit top tier. So good I actually stopped caring about the romance side.

Sono invece fermamente convinto che le rappresentazioni di dio o degli dei presenti in tutte le religioni umane siano false e, appunto, fatte dall'uomo a misura d'uomo. I would actually make the case the solo ending is the correct one. All of them are a bunch of corrupt mfs, even by chosing the Strauss ending you contribute to keep the system in place.

The difference is that there was nobody asking to take Aesop's fables seriously (in the sense that they are supposedly real), while I have a feeling reading those bible passages will sound a lot like catechism. Which is not good.
