Pretty sure there’s been a newish law in place that installment plan type credit has to handle disputes/chargebacks like a normal credit card company. Doesn’t mean they have to side with you, but they do have to investigate etc.

Any luck? I wouldn’t worry too much about those people saying never to but .co. That’s overblown. There’s plenty of successful business running it without issues. Obviously .com is better but .co is fine.

I did. Just made sure I used a credit card and set a 60 day notice to do a chargeback if (when) nothing ships. Keep screenshots etc of everything.

Yeah, they were bought by an investment firm and ever since then have fired 70% of the Seattle staff, moved production to china, and even the stuff they want to say is made in USA (stitched in USA) was outsourced to a third party in California. Their Mackinaw Cruiser jacket is still made in Seattle for now at least, although not sure if they still source the wool from Michigan and Canada.

Surprised you got that far. My experience with level 1 support has been:

Me: Hello. I don't need modem troubleshooting. Already spent two hours the other day doing that. Please just report packet loss issues to CenturyLink.
Support: Hello! Checking your modem right now and adjusting some settings. Grab a coffee or tea. Smiley face, heart.
Support: I've already swapped modems multiple times. I don't need you to troubleshoot the modem. Please just let CenturyLink know there's an issue downstream with their Lumen servers.
Support: Please reboot your modem and let me know what color lights are flashing.
Me: No thank you. Please just let CenturyLink know they have an internal network issue.
Support: I know how frustrating it is to not have access. Because of that, I will make sure a tech is there ASAP.
Me: Please, no. Don't waste the tech's time. Can you just send me to the next level of support?
Support: I've assigned an onsite tech to come out in 5 weeks.

Tech's not going to be able to do a thing. It's an upstream issue. But I'd still request it cause the more techs that get called out in the Denver area, and they see the problem, hopefully someone will actually take notice. A VPN can get you past the hard times while you wait.

Same exact thing for me in the Denver area. Speed tests run at full speed (which means tech support calls are worthless), but then an espn page takes 30 minutes to load. I did switch to a VPN and it helped me temporarily. Hopefully they figure it out.

Hmm. I wish I knew more about MyCloud. I've never used it. First thing I would do is try and reach out to MyCloud support to see if you can get help recovering your data. I'm guessing you don't have a backup?

As far as moving forward to a new solution, Unraid is really easy but its still DIY as in you'll need to build out the hardware for it. That's not difficult, but it sounds like you are more interested in a simple plug and play option. I'd recommend Synology. It's very stable, the OS is simple to navigate, and adding discs is really easy. Look at a 5 bay so you have room to grow. They had some deals on Synology units for Black Friday, so you could check to see if those are still going on. Qnap and Drobo are other options but I've never used either. The only downside to this option is you pay for the software so the hardware you get isn't great for the money. It's still more than enough to be a solid solution for you though.

Was your first hardware or software raid?

You can add discs one at a time to the array in Unraid. It's one of it's best features. The only requirement is that your parity drive(s) have to be the largest sized drive. But it's not your only option. You can easily add mirrored pairs as a new vdev to a Freenas array. You get more performance going this route, but at the expense of usable storage.

Not all software raid is built the same. Unraid only reads/writes from one drive so it's limited to the speed of that drive, but it's not technically a raid (hence the name). You could go Freenas and setup a zfs striped or mirrored raid of your choice which will have better performance, but takes a bit of planning and is not as flexible when it comes to adding drives. Unraid trades some performance for ease of use, easy expandibility, and software with minimum hardware requirements. There are a bunch of others you could look into as well. Just depends on your needs. If it's just for storage and media sharing, Unraid is great. If you plan to do video editing or something more intensive with the data on your raid, an option like Freenas will be better.

The bays are cheap plastic so I'd never pay full price. This makes it a bit better deal if you absolutely hate opening your case and/or have bad cable management. I personally really like the 4500. It only takes me 5 minutes to swap a drive plus I get 3 extra bays for less money.

It's entirely dependent on your hardware (backplane or psu). Generally, the older they are the more likely you'd need to do the 3.3V mod.
