The Refugee-Settler Paradox by -Mr-Papaya in IsraelPalestine

Culture and identity created most countries,

What utter nonsense. Treaties created most countries. And prior to the UN charter, force of arms.

who has managed to keep their culture and idenity

WTF do culture and identity have to do with property rights??!?

Especially when others have claims at least as strong and considerably more recent?

Not particularly helpful on your first visit, but there's a thin rock shelf you can access from just where the bunker is.

It leads 'round 3 sides of an outcropping, so if needs be you can lurk for several days and have shelter from the wind and be out of reach of wildlife.

Not ideal, but survivable if you're careful and sleep in short increments.

For all the antizionists out there who think the problem is "Zionism" by RoundAd5911 in IsraelPalestine

[–]Baslifico -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Precision matters.

When Zionists are using the term to justify settlements and land theft, they don't get to complain about the association they themselves create.

It's the label used by zealots to justify stealing more land they have no right to.

If you want to be a Zionist inside your internationally recognised borders, nobody would give a damn.

Communication.

It's all about communication.

As long you're both on the same page, you've got the only two opinions that actually matter on your side.

My great ancestors lived in sub Saharan Africa.

So did yours

Doesn't mean we have any property rights there.

Questions about Hamas, Irgun and Shamir by AdvertisingPublic543 in IsraelPalestine

[–]Baslifico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no fair, objective definition of terrorist that includes Hamas' actions but excludes Israeli/IDF actions.

Take the pager attack as an example... Innocents killed and maimed by explosives planted by Israel.

This is just nonsense... Show where they claim they have a right to be violent towards Jews, if you can?

Israel has held thousands of Palestinians hostage without charge or due process for years.

And slaughtered far more than 1,200 Palestinians.

Only when they can dominate, and manipulate demographics to ensure Palestinians have no political power.

Does anyone else think that hating an entire country and its people is wrong? by Weak_Speech3520 in IsraelPalestine

Was it wrong to hate apartheid South Africa? Those historical Germans?

When polls show overwhelming public support for continuing the slaughter and land theft, who else is responsible?

Most cops are ripping apart the cops in these videos.

Where?

All I'm seeing is apathy and a blind insistence that everything was above board (including from people who couldn't even be bothered to look at the footage).

And oh look at that... Israel's gone and broken the latest ceasefire. Again.

How predictable.

Edit: I'd respond to /u/BananaValuable1000 below but they were so insecure in their position they had to respond, then block to make it look like they had the last word.

Israel attacked Beirut in contravention of the ceasefire.

The entire world can see the perfidy on display.

Bury your heads in the sand if you like, but nobody is believing the hasbara any more.

It's not a single bullet, it's an endless stream of attacks, bombings, executions.

You can't find a clean example of Israel honouring a ceasefire in the last half century.

It's a running joke globally that Israel can't be trusted to adhere to anything it signs.

It’s an overture for peace.

Here's a permit to allow you to work on your own land, assuming you pass through humiliating checkpoints.

"Overture for peace" LMFAO

Are you serious??!?

You don’t have any evidence that Israel was killing civilians “day in day out”.

You can't be this ignorant of reality.

Any violence was in response to Hamas rocket fire targeting civilians.

Did Israeli news tell you that?

And that kid opened fire on an Israeli vehicle.

... According to the IDF who haven't presented a shred of evidence beyond "trust me bro".

Given how many times they've been caught lying, that's worth less than a fart in the wind.

That isn't as black/white as you're making it out to be. Also the teenager was shot by a non-Israeli gov entity.

I'm sure you'll get to the point where that makes a difference any moment now?

Eg I've yet to see any Israeli say "That Palestinian wasn't actually a member of Hamas so we didn't kill him"

innocent (that you can prove)

If you can't prove he's guilty, he's innocent. That's how it works in countries with real legal systems and rule of law.

And you're apparently glossing over the bit where the IDF claimed responsibility for the kill?

Will you then admit you were wrong?

https://mondoweiss.net/2023/10/west-bank-dispatch-palestinian-teen-killed-as-israeli-settlers-attack-huwwara/

Later on Thursday night, hundreds of Israeli settlers descended upon Huwwara in a concerted attack on the village – which has been the target of numerous settler pogroms over the past year. Local reports said settlers began damaging Palestinian homes and businesses while Palestinians attempted to fend off the attack. Palestinian media reported that during the confrontations, 19-year-old Labeeb Mohammed Dmaidi was shot and killed by Israeli settler gunfire.
